Out of general curiosity does the same problem occur when running the opposite direction? On my carpet empire a tiny variation in grade at one point had to be corrected so both approaches to the bridge would be equal.

Yep, both ways. Guess this just isn't really designed for any type of incline lol.

Do the two engines run at the same speed when running as a loco consist? On DC mine always have a different power take up and I can only use them with speed matching in DCC. I'm always afraid these motor will burn up if one is running faster than the other when in a consist.

They run close enough I'd say they're about the same. I had that same worry first some years back but from what I can tell looking into it, there's not much to worry about running too engines together.
