Toby is indeed a real engine! Like most of the engines in the show, Toby is based of the LNER J70 tram engine that was used on tramways where they were required to have all the hazardous parts covered, hence his boxy look. There is also a OO scale model of the engine he is based off by rapido

Great comment! Engines like Toby also existed in the US, but were referred to as “steam dummies”. Apparently, they were steam locomotives that worked within city limits. They were boxed in to make them look more like wagons, as the running gear and general features of a steam locomotive were said to spook horses during street running operations. A simple image search for “steam dummy” should bring up some nice results should you be interested.

So, to clarify, Henry’s original shape was close to Gordon’s before his accident and rebuild. But Henry was always a 4-6-0 and Gordon was always a 4-6-2

I haven't purchased any Bachman locos in decades and never will again. In my old club we usually referred to them as Barfmans and shared that opinion with any new club members. I dumped all of mine into the junk box,...

Well that’s just wrong . Bachmans HO thomas that I own works completely fine and the n scale toby seems to work just fine . And the HO James that I have had since … forever … works like a dream still Heck even the non Thomas stuff like my OO pannier tank engine and it works just fine with lots of details and for a shunting layout for OO it can go at a rarther low speed And n scale grahamfarish being by Bachman . I have the class 66 and 60 diesels . They both work verry well and strong so both scales of Bachman work well . That’s all bye👋🏽

I think Tomix have stopped making Thomas locos, as Bachmann now has the license. I do wish I bought a Tomix Thomas while I could!

Thomas is a pretty solid engine from Tomix, works better than the Percy or James one.

And for your ertl thomas collection your missing the twins Donald and Douglas numbers 9 and 10 Along with the other yellow 4 wheeled twin called ben to go with bill And liver the green number 11 And maybe Annie and clarabel to be with thomas and the troublesome trucks to be with James All new in the box I suppose . Tho I do ie mine to be used ike toys should be . But anyways them are your missing models
