It sucks that they have some long distance (as opposed to local corridor) trains that don't do the traditional dining. Good that ours out here on the West Coast, the Coast Starlight, still does traditional dining 🙂

ohhhh its on the lake shore limited ok well that does make sense considering u have already done a trip report on the Silver Star and obviously the Silver Meteor can't be that much different but I'll be ready to watch it

The Toledo Amtrak station looks as bad now, as it did when I went to Chicago in May 1993.

how could you sleep at night with that constant honking? Why does Amtrak have to honk and gated and lighted crossings?

The horn is not too bad on the train, the only thing I’ve really had as a problem is the movement more than noise. To answer your question is that its a law for all trains to blow their horns at crossings unless legally noticed that they are no horn zones, its just to signal for people near the tracks especially at night time when people may be not as aware.
