Great video as always. I wish so much we still had Williams. I really like your Amtrak train too. It is an icon of the seventies. Thanks for sharing.

Many thanx George! This is my only Williams engine and it's pretty nice. I have a few cars from them as well, but otherwise I don't collect them. I saw an interesting photo on facebook (Meta) which showed an Amtrak consist in Milwaukee ca1975. It had an engine similar to mine (although it may have been an E7) in Amtrak colors pulling cars in the yellow UP scheme but lettered for the Milwaukee Road!

Many Thanx Frank! I do like the smaller sized Lionel passenger cars on my little layout - they look right at home!
@johnandrus39012 ай бұрын
@@Ed-ICE-Berg The smaller cars look good on any layout. There is a reason that I won't go to anything larger than my AMT or the Lionel 2500 series cars. The newer, scale cars are just too big and take up way too much space. Unless you are Chris Montagna or Jason Stuckert, the 2400 series and the 14-15 inch O gauge cars look just fine.

I love the Williams True Blast Bell and Horn. Williams in the past was too expensive for me but now the older models have become more reasonable and I have purchased several of them. The FM trainmasters are beasts. Thanks for the video Ed.

Many Thanx Al! The two trains are a nice departure from Milwaukee Road and still tie in to the overall theme. If I can peel off the sign from the Menards York Hotel, I'm going to change that as well.

This video brought back a memory for me. Living and racine Wisconsin most people had the Racine journal times. I however used to deliver the Milwaukee journal. Reason being is they had a weekend paperboy position.That was my route. I made about seven bucks a week. My route was A2. Thanks for the memories Ed! I think?

You're welcome Ken - I think! 😆 It's been fun - and a bit of a challenge - to find or come up with things that remind me of Milwaukee. But one way or da udder, I'll make it work!

Many Thanx Mark! That city scene has been a challenge but I think I've got a workable plan for the remainder of the space. I'll be happy to get out in The Cave and do a bit of work again on the layout. I hope you're able to start your new layout before too long. Moving is never fun but you have to do what you have to do.

Very nice, Ed. I like the way that you fit everything on your layout, without making it look too cluttered. You've given me some good ideas on my scenery, when I start it next month. I think that it is harder on marginally larger layouts, like mine, to make everything 'fit', without looking like it was just thrown together with no rhyme or reason. I haven't been to Wisconsin since I was a little boy. I want to check out my dad's home town of Columbus and then go to Madison and Milwaukee, when I get a chance. Either way, an excellent video, as always.

Many Thanx John! This layout is a big experiment for me as it's the first time I've tried Big City scenery. Doing that in a limited space has been a challenge. The hardest part is finding tall buildings with a small footprint so that I can fit more into the space I have, most everyone wants to make humongous structures!
@johnandrus39012 ай бұрын
@@Ed-ICE-Berg Sure is. I’m eliminating all of my bigger accessories, including the coal ramp and log loader. There just isn’t enough room to justify them on the layout. They will be on display on my shelves. I’d rather have more space for running trains. My small town and the commercial buildings are just enough, really. Keep up the great work.
@Ed-ICE-Berg2 ай бұрын
@@johnandrus3901 I was into HO scale for decades before switching to 3-rail back in ‘91 and the whole ‘operating accessory’ thing was foreign to me. I bought maybe a half dozen over the course of several years but grew tired of them. Plus they take up a lot of room on a layout.
@johnandrus39012 ай бұрын
@@Ed-ICE-Berg I went on an accessory buying spree for probably 9-10 years and bought 21. Way too many. I’m keeping a few of the smaller ones on the layout and the rest are going on the shelves. If you’re in a modular group, they are okay. Other than that, nah.

I like it all - new, old, broken and repaired, whatever. If I can afford it I buy it but now that I'm retired the 'affordability' threshold is greatly reduced!
@genemanno15332 ай бұрын
That’s the only way to be affordable is to fix up the vintage trains like we had as kids. Modern expensive china plastic crap don’t interest me. After all these are just toys to play with. I like video’s like this that make use of inexpensive trains that one fixes up and runs. I buy on ebay and train shows from others selling reasonably priced. Everything I own is pre/post war Lionel modified to my taste. Most diesels now have double AC motors w/magna traction and custom paint.
