Yes the Burlington Northern definitely ran freight trains along the Mississippi route. I watched a green switcher work from my hospital room in Lacrosse probably around 1983. Technically they still do. The BNSF (Burlington Northern Santa Fe) still runs that route. I enjoyed the video Ed.

Many Thanx Ken, I appreciate your support! Sooo, it's safe to assume that prior to the merger, CB&Q freight trains were operating on those same tracks. That means I'll feel no guilt in getting some CB&Q freight to run! 😄

Beautiful consist Ed. You really researched this train

Many Thanx Jub, much appreciated! I was surprised to hear that one of the Zephyr's ran through Wisconsin, and apparently the CB&Q ran freight along the trackage fronting the east bank of the Mississippi, so that gives me another option for running other than Milwaukee Road trains.

@@nickltrains6952 Awesome - Many thanx Nick! I just subscribed to your channel as well! You have a great layout and lots of content over an extended period. I see a lot of channels go like gang busters and then just stop for no apparent reason. Burnout?

@@Ed-ICE-Berg Thanks Ed, I enjoy making the videos of my layout and sharing with fellow hobbyist. My son encouraged me to create a KZbin account to shear with other people having the same passion for model railroading. Have a great day. Nick

I like the chrome F3’s in “ABA” configuration. But too expensive to purchase. So I created my own double A’s both powered (4 motors). I striped the shells and painting first gloss black followed with chrome paint over that. All done with air brush except the pilot is a chrome wrap. The aluminum frame is just highly polished. I don’t care about road names so mine is bare, no name just chrome. I see these chrome units on line in the $300 to $700 range. Too rich for my pockets.

I got the two 'AA" units and five cars all for under $700 (the 'B' unit and one of the coaches I bought separately) but I did notice the asking price for just the engines is through the roof, so yeah re-painting a less desirable engine would be a good option.

Nice you are pleased with your set for the $600 plus price. I can’t justify that kind of money for what is essentially a toy. My maximum ever payed is $105 shipped to me for excellent Lionel F3’s double horizontal motors. Most Lionel engines I seek are in the $50 or less range. I’m more than pleased with my four motor powered chrome F3’s I made from Santa Fe units that were way less than half of going price for a powered/dummy chrome pair.😊😊 I enjoy the creating of trains rather than spending a lot of money for an original.

Guss, it's a really good set. Even though the engines only have traction tires and no horn or bell, the cars are all aluminum! Quite unusual for the MPC era.
