Thanks for watching! It was good to visit IRM again (my first IRM video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fZ7Shn5ufKqSnbs ), saw a lot of stuff I hadn't seen before. I've always thought of IRM like a grocery store, they constantly move stuff around so you have to come back and visit lol. I'll have to come around again when they're running some other event-specific trains. I was planning on Diesel Days this year but something came up and I had to push back my trip. Pictures of the trains I saw here and elsewhere on my Chicago trip can be found on my Twitter, Instagram, and Flickr. Links for those are in the description.

My cousin used to volunteer there so one day 15 days before he had to leave to go to Florida he let me come in. And I went in before it was open, went into the office and it was amazing! (We live about 45 mins away from the museum) But the best part was I got special access into 1630 and I got a cab ride inside of 1630 for the hole trip. It was an amazing experience and that’s why this museum will always hold a special place in my heart ♥️

I was the conductor on the North Shore train that day. Glad you enjoyed yourself there. We'll have our Museum Showcase Weekend September 16th and 17th, including operations around the clock, and I'll be a conductor on both of those days also. Always welcome back, and we'll be happy to show you something new. For instance, you may have notice our newly-arrived EMD RS1325, one of only two built. Still runs, and we hope to get it repainted for the C&IM before too long.

this would be a great 21st birthday experience if i could get up to illinois before like October. Definitely gonna be there before the year is up though.

@@briewhit1312 Well, how lovely! I'll be conductor of the North Shore train on the evening shift on Saturday, and conductor for the heavyweight coach train during the day shift on Sunday. Perhaps you'll see me around there.

Great video. I hope to see J. Neils Lumber Co. Shay #5 (Built by Lima Locomotive Works in 1929), and Frisco 1630 (Built by Baldwin Locomotive Works in 1918), when I visit the Illinois Railway Museum the first time on early October 2023.

if you go to 1:36, that's probably one of the most underrated railroad crossing's because you get to wait for a old train to cross while seeing some iconic trains lined up.

A DM&IR car! My grandpa made a career as an engineer on those trains. I'm reading Flames of Discontent about the 1916 ore strike on the Iron Range. Happy labor day weekend, fellow workers!

If you're ever driving through Central Illinois on I-55, consider a side trip north of Lincoln to the "other" Union Illinois, an unincorporated area that had a large station on the Illinois Traction System. The station is in horrible repair but worth seeing out in the middle of no where.

I wonder why are the signals pulsating (dimming) in such a strange way. This museum looks like fun. I've enjoyed the video really much. Cheers from Poland
