This scene is priceless. All of the actors do a great job of supporting each other. I don't know if she planned it that way, but Mayim's voice cracks a little when she says her last line, and it makes the delivery just gold. I think I've viewed this dozens of times by now and it still cracks me up. Can't wait for season 6!

What a great scene. I did not like her character much initially but this season she has become a great personality and her relationship with Sheldon has really added a lot to the show. This scene alone proves exactly why they need to keep her as a regular from here on out. She has really done a fantastic job with the character and I really hope they keep bringing her back for every episode. Mayim Bialik truly does deserve an Emmy for her role.

2022 and I'm still watching the show and clips. I adore Mayim and as said throughout the comments she is a true talent. Her transition from being appalled that Sheldon bought her jewelry to the quirky excitement of realizing it is a tiara is what makes this scene memorable. That and there is an underlying sweet tone knowing that Sheldon selected the item; indicating how well he knows her!!!

Tiaras are the best gifts for my pregnant friends. It makes them sooo happy when I bring them a gift to the baby shower and as they look at the tiara I say "There might be days when you feel tired, exhausted, ugly and like a bad mom. The whole time Amy was freaking out with joy, Sheldon just stood there watching with analytical expression like he couldn't tell if it made things better (kudos to Jim Parsons for staying in character so we'll). Then when she hurried to kiss and hug him, his voice said "You were right, tiara was too much..." But his face said "I should have gotten her a necklace or bracelet and saved the tiara for when she was REALLY mad at me".

No! The genius of this scene stems not from loss of dignity, but from incongruity & a degree of pathos. Amy is brilliant. But she has spent her entire life being praised for her brains, not her beauty & she longs to be beautiful, too. It's not the tiara that matters. It's what it represents. A tiara is what beautiful princesses wear. So it gives Amy fleeting fulfillment of all of her inner longing. Hence her joy. And the audience's laughter. Mixed with the odd tear from the empathetic therein.
