Franks lines about Marie were so on point - just leaving Marie silent. (Which is how you know they were so accurate). It's Marie's facial expressions when she's been offended by people other than Frank that scares the skin off people.

Every time Frank says something seemingly selfish, like about making him something to eat, I think his intention is to de-escalate or attempt to diminish a petty argument. To try and divert attention and distract, rather than thinking of his stomach.

@@Panwere36 I have to kindly disagree. There are thousands (maybe millions?) of men on yt (and other social platforms too) that would disagree with your statement. They usually claim that the appearance and youth are the most important things so i do not think they even think about the personality at all. I think that Marie is perfect example of what happens to some women (maybe at some level to all) when being a stay in mother and wife is only thing they are.

Marie definitely pissed me off in this episode. She never wanted Robert to be a cop & when he started thinking about retiring from the force she kept pushing him to retire. The problem was that Robert didn’t know how to think for himself I’m glad Raymond helped him make his own decision, which was to wait a few years or so before retiring from the police force. And Marie was not happy with Raymond bc he helped Robert make his own decision to stay as a cop. She had NO business in making other people’s decisions that would benefit her & manipulating them to do what makes her happy & not what they want. Her narcissism is off the charts

In the episode "Good Girls," Marie confessed that she got pregnant by her freak of nature then boyfriend Frank, and because out of wedlock back then was a no-no, the gruesome twosomes had to get married, and ten months later, a twelve pounds baby was born, and who was the BIG bundle of joy was no other than Robert. But they did separate at one time when Ray and Robert were kids and were close to getting a divorce in the episode "Anniversary," but sadly, they got back together. Marie is as deadly as a villainous black widow spider with her controlling and passive-aggressive tactics. Television has two of the most insufferable mothers of all time: Livia Sopranos (from the HBO series The Sopranos) and Marie Barone. You decide which of the two rates is the most toxic.

I would never understand Amy and Debra. I will very happily let Marie do ALL housework and cooking for me. Too bad they don’t have a life or hobby. I would be so happy to come home to great Italian food and sparkling clean house. Poor Amy has to work but Debra doesn’t even have to work. She could just go live a life but she rather spend her life fighting with in laws.
