Great performance of some lovely music. And the violinist shows such spirit! Glad to see that she has recovered from her accident.

A transcendently beautiful piece, rendered exquisitely by a true virtuosa, the lovely Rachel Barton Pine, who truly epitomizes "the triumph of the human spirit over adversity," considering the terrible accident that could have taken her life. An incredibly talented yong lady who plays like an angel - I salute you!

I saw Rachel featured on Religion and Ethics (pbs) last week and was quite moved by her story and her talent. It's wonderful to see her in the midst of a successful career. I appreciated the informative introduction. Maude Powell was an amazing person, truly inspiring. I will make sure to look her up. The Amy Beach piece is quite lovely :)

Simply amazing. You probably don't remember this, but you over heard me playing this piece in Evanston about 6 months ago and we discussed the piece briefly. Ever since then I've wanted to see you perform this piece. And as it turns out, your interpretation is really lovely. Thank you for posting this.

Maud Powell. Not a composer, but the first US women violin virutuoso.

The composer is Amy Beach (1867-1944) American. Amy composed the piece for Maud Powell, and accompanied her, at the world premiere performance in Chicago in 1893.
