True. But it is much harder when a young child or teenager loses a parent, I think. Especially if it's sudden. If you're middle aged when an elderly parent passes away, it's sad, but, you know, you've been in the game awhile, been to many funerals before. it's not as jarring.

Wonderful tribute, Amy. I remember at 17 years old watching the nightly news and seeing Amy climb the tree house that her father built for her on the White House grounds. Also, Her parents not only talked the the talk but walked the walk and sent Amy to public school when every other hypocritical member of Congress sent their children to private schools while pretending to care about public schools. This family is the salt of the earth and Rosalynn was the heartbeat. May God bless the Carter family always. 🙏
