Great review. It really looks like a very smooth finish. I like the coverage, availability in local stores like Lowe’s and consistency. This has inspired me to try it. Thanks

I think when it says no sand it means you do not need to sand initially. She always sands in between on her tutorials

A lot of Amy's information videos are all over the place and is quite a head banger and I thought at that price point you might as well just buy Annie Sloan. Thank you for the video it was quite good

In her videos attached to the products she shows how to use and often says the one step doesn't need to be sealed unless using in kitchen snd heavy use. But the milk paint she says yes it does need to be sealed either with wax or glaze.

the can says don’t sand between coats. Now I am conflicted! Just ordered another color to try.

is this self leveling like annie sloan?
@dianneshelton45153 жыл бұрын
You do not have to seal. However when you wax the furniture with the sark wax or light wax or even her curusing wax it really finishes your piece and protects it

I have heard around this video there was a new formula created and I wonder if you may have used the older formula as this is an older video. It would be fun to see a new video comparing the two. Who knows maybe you would love it now!

Amy Howard website actually does say that there is no need to seal your piece in her video tutorial.
@BorninaBarnBoutique4 жыл бұрын
Thank you for that, I must have somehow missed that when I was looking! It does say it very clearly, but when I looked at the time of this video, I swear I couldn't find that information - so thanks! :)
@mariangomz79192 жыл бұрын
Even though they say not need to seal it. I can say it scratches and stains really easy if it’s not sealed. We’ll see how it does with the sealer

I am thinking of painting my bedroom furniture. I am scared as I really haven't painted any furniture. What paint do you recommend?
@BorninaBarnBoutique4 жыл бұрын
So there are so many paints to choose from and a lot of good ones. An easy one for a beginner is General Finishes Milk Paint - It is self leveling, self sealing and the consistency is nice and easy to work with. Its one of my top paints and one I recommend often! I hope that helps!
@everfire3905 Жыл бұрын
She mentioned no having to seal or sand or prime, very frequently on her website
@TheKlh542 жыл бұрын
Sure wish you had followed their instructions explicitly. It’s hard to know what the results would be since you added your own steps.
@BorninaBarnBoutique2 жыл бұрын
Instructions - paint - paintbrush = a nice end result - adding my own “steps” sanding in between coats to make it looks it’s best is something that doesn’t change the result of the paint itself

how would you describe this color of green paint? Are there any blue undertones or is it mostly cool green or warm green, sage-like? mostly grey? I can't tell from the video.
@BorninaBarnBoutique3 жыл бұрын
It’s was kind of a blue green, like a duck egg blue color with green undertone. Not sage or grey, more blue

@@BorninaBarnBoutique I am trying very hard to find a certain color for these wood kitchen cabinets and then a quality one. I typed in how does amy compare to annie and how is it ranked among chalk paint for kitchen cabinets and that is what I got several times. She was no 1 and annie way down was exceptional for walls. like 5 or 6. this is out of 10. Jolie was no where on the list. I have bought all the varied brands and am going to try them out but leaning toward amy as its all in one and annie is not. Then the wax is extra protection for the cabinets. Annie herself said if its kitchen cabinets wait a month to apply wax a d give it a week between coats. That’s ideal and it won ‘t be cured for 3 months on any of it. Amy it sounds like is better that way and in durability. annie has never said wash and use for annie unless you reapply wax and be gentle. I have been watching vids for almost a year trying to get it right and learn. Picked up a lot of info and I have been painting my homes for 40 years but I am a bit of a perfectionist so want to do a good job. I just found your video’s a few weeks ago. I have been busy trying to learn from you. I wish you showed more of the end product before and after or I just,haven’t seen,those yet?? I hate brush marks and swirls and a lot of the vids for annie including hers are like that. I don’t like brush marks either. I really want to do a good job. I was disappointed you did not rave on amy Howard chalk paint. It is what it is. I am going to test it this week on a table. we shall see. Thanks for your help!!! what state are you in? I am in wash. state so it’s good time to paint right now, No rain!!!!!! r.

Possibly if you prime your price first or if your not looking for a solid covers, maybe more of a distressed shabby look

It's time for me to re-stain my front door. It is a Therma Tru wood grain fiberglass door. I have used the Therma Tru stain but I like working with General Finishes Gel stain. Can the GF Gel stain be used on an exterior fiberglass door? Thank you!
@BorninaBarnBoutique4 жыл бұрын
Dave Morris so here’s the thing with GF Gel stains they are made to be applied to bare wood or can be applied over an existing finish. If you got the GF website they have videos showing this. I personally always sand down to bare wood, but you can dry brush over existing finishes. They have two videos on this technique.

ONE STEP PAINT….. means just that…..ONE STEP😳
@BorninaBarnBoutique2 жыл бұрын
There is no just paint and go paint, pieces should be prepped prior to painting to ensure good adhesion and long lasting results and if you want to finish sand in between that is a personal choice to buff it down, get rid of any brushstrokes and make it smooth as butter. It is an all in one paint however, sealing is optional as well, whether you want a different sheen or just added durability.

This is a chalk paint!!!!
@BorninaBarnBoutique Жыл бұрын
Yes it is a chalky finish paint but not exactly like a true chalk paint in that it doesn’t have to be sealed like true chalk paint - it has a built in sealer
