I feel it's largely because the western record industry doesn't seem to be interested in women outside the pop music genre. So it can be a struggle. But looking around the world Japan in particular is producing some really great women fronted and all women bands. Of course the current landscap can also promote more nependent artists that are not subject to the whims of the fickle western music industry.

I remember my ex wife at the time sending me Evanescence first album to me when I was in Iraq circa 2003 and fast forward when I was in Afghanistan when I downloaded Halestorm album in 2012 after seeing them on I think Kimmel or that other late night guy. All told I never felt some type of way about the ladies in rock. Female rock artist are easily among my favs and I never thought of them different as a huge heavy metal fan. I am older than both of these ladies maybe this current culture had compelled them to speak from what I see as victims perspective. Amy Lee Lzzy Hale neither of you are victims and I love your music so please end this woe is me talk. I guarantee 90% of your biggest fans are men. Let the music speak for itself. I have always gravitated to rock and metal because to me it doesn't care what color you are if you like chicks or dudes. Men have been wearing more makeup in metal than any other scene. I think Lyzzy hit on what I'm trying to say towards the end of the interview but you ladies can completely stand on your own merits. Oh well that's my 2 cent.

Gender and race baiters do this all the time they try to bait people against each other. That's when these conversations start we all know that men are more into Metal than women it doesn't mean that women are told not to take part. If they were then all those rockstar women wouldn't have been. Most men don't want to be nurses most women are nurses but everyday we dont here media say women in nursing are prejudice to male nurses stopping them from being male nurses because the statistics of men in nursing are small. It's almost like this is by design that they want women to hate all men. Marxism?

And all those male bands who never made it who never got record deals because they were not good they don't matter as that doesn't help the narrative that women are being oppressed. Maybe most of those female led bands are crap it's not because they are women same with the ten times more male metal bands that go the way of the dodo. Women don't really get along with each other in girl bands the same as men in bands but it's a little worse. There are only two obstacles to becoming a rock star: The fact that barely any rock/metal/handmade music gets played on mainstream radio and the fact that getting a foot in the door requires either very good connections or a lucky break. Gender has nothing to do with it. And while we're talking about gender and such: If "female fronted (metal) band" has become such a dirty term to describe a certain segment of music, then stop pushing the boobs and asses of your lady members as the most eye-catching sales argument. This video still making me angry. A LOT of bands including female bands don't "succeed" because honestly they're not that good. How many times you went to see a band you like, only have to sit through 4 other bands you never heard of? People don't even show up at the door opening time to see them, head to the bar or step outside to smoke and socialize >:(

You hate it deep down that any woman is more significant than your unsuccessful self.
