There was no reason they had to stay in the past. All that trouble to write an epilogue and all Amy had to do was write "Oi raggedy man, meet us in Utah in 1929 or whatever year it is." All they said was he couldn't go to back to New York, not that he couldn't go back to somewhere else and get them. No one said they had to stay in New York.

Wow! What a fast and action-packed recap of Amy's story... most of it were sort-of memorable scenes - and many I had forgotten -or missed if I missed an episode or two. I know I said 'Martha Jones' when I was wondering which companion I thought was the best... but It's really a tie between Amy Pond (and Rory and River Song of course), Martha Jones and Rose Tyler... and of course Clara Oswald. I've not been so much into the more recent versions of the Doctor and the companions have not been so memorable... and I've found it more and more over-the-top and mind-boggling.

PS until the newer versions of the Doctor came along I thought my favourite Doctor was Peter Davison and 2nd Colin Baker, since I had hardly seen any with Tom Baker, being really too young to watch it in those days... but recently saw a DVD with Tom as the Doctor and think he was really good at it! I like the multi-doctor cross-over special episodes - you get the best of several of them, usually hilarious!
