I have the 6 quart mixer Amy and I love the size of it. Can fit so much flour into it. And kneads dough so easily. Thank you for sharing this video

FitAnge S I really like the 6 quart. I haven't used it much because I had the burnished beaters and they gave off a weird gray powder. Now that I have these new coated beaters...I am ready to use it!

plastic salad mix boxes that have lids are great for storing attachments and they are clear

+Eye on art Sounds like a great idea! I wish mixers would come with a storage box like the food processors have....it would make it easier. I did get some clear plastic shoe box size storage from the Container Store that work pretty good.

I am truly debating about getting a pro 600 ( is on sale at Costco for $249 this week). I got an artisan over the holidays and love it but I think the larger one would be useful too. I make cookies and cakes mostly but would love to get into bread making.

Hi Amy, you mentioned how the dough hook had some powdering. If the one you had was made of aluminum, did you wash it in the dishwasher? Generally, aluminum doesn't like dishwashers, and the metal can turn a darker colour. Also, mixing different types of metals in a dishwasher can cause a reaction that can affect the appearance. A friend mixed her silverware with a couple of aluminum objects and the silverware was pitted terribly, actually ruined. She can't use any of those pieces now.

I made the mistake of washing it in the dishwasher. Big mistake! I've since learned even tho it was learning the hard way!

What did you think about the New Metro flex edge beater? I bought a yellow one for my new silver Pro 6 (it took a lot of internet searching after I saw Martha using one with her silver mixer in a cooking segment). Have not used it yet, and probably only would for a wet batter. Did not expect to pay $40 for a piece of plastic with rubber blades that seem like they’ll fall off in a year. It also doesn’t fit the contour of the bowl as well as the KA issues beaters.

Next, you need to try the 11-wire whip for the 6! Unfortunately I have a 6-qt glass bowl and none of the standard accessories want to work with it.

+tanguerochas I ordered the full stainless whip for it but I haven't had a chance to use it yet. I am looking forward to it...The whip is huge!

Hello Amy, could you please tell me, if the 6QT Dough hook fits the 5QT, too? Iam from Germany and have the 4,8L (5QT) Bowl-Lift Model. The reason is, that the "spiral-hook" is working much better. Thank you!!

I've an old Hobart N50 and I'm just finding out that their toys are expensive, if available. A lot of stuff was never made is only available second hand, like the KA copper liner I just bought. Oh and the fact I have to pay import fees and currency exchange fees makes eBay/Amazon purchases less of a bargain when shopping from the US. So I'm looking at compatible KA stuff, thought I'm stuck with the 11 wire whisk, the original KA style isn't any use for mine. If I can get one of the Christmas tree style to fit mine I'll be golden.

I would love to get an N50. Are the new ones still as good as the older ones?
@v8trauma
@v8trauma 8 жыл бұрын
No idea how the new ones are, mine is the one with the black switch and plain handle. Going by that and knowing where it came from, I'd say its a 70's model. Everything is NSF because it was used in a commercial kitchen, and it even came with a pastry knife. An absolute godsend, the stuff it produces is beyond compare. I ought to fit a new switch and give the beast a service, but it's still going strong. It didn't cost me anything, but I'm spending money on toys I'll use. Having 4 bowls and every blade Hobart made for it means I don't need much I suppose. I don't go much in for ice cream maker's and slicers, but I would use a power sieve if I could find one. I suppose I'll have to make one soon.

Gracias, your information is so helpful. I have been struggling in purchasing a Kitchenaid for a long time due to cost but finally came to terms. Mine is a 5 qt and really love it and well worth it. I just have one question; will a 6 qt stand up mixer (bowl) fit on my 5 qt stand up mixer?

Never own one, but looking.....do you prefer tilt back or lift up bowl? Look like lift up bowl is trouble, taking out the paddle then remove bowl versus lift up , the paddle stay on and also can drip in bowl and easy remove bowl without taking out the paddle......so, can anyone tell me, please,,,,thanks
@ginawinterstein4301
@ginawinterstein4301 7 жыл бұрын
Cat D The bowl lift models are more powerful and typically larger so if you are doing a lot of denser mixtures or large batches I would go with the bowl lift. I thought it would be a pain in the butt too but I think I like the bowl lift more. The tilt head are the most popular models because they are a bit smaller and still fit the average home's needs. Hope that helps!

@EricLearnstoCook

Never use them! :-) Seriously, anything that is stainless steel is eligible to be cleaned with BKF. Bar Keepers Friend. It's less harsh than Comet in scouring, contains no bleach, but does have a mild acid, so recommended to wear gloves if your hands are sensitive. I hope that helps, and thanks for watching and commenting!

Esther Senior Hi Esther! I use Bar Keeper's Friend and a little scrubby sponge I think it is Scotch Brite...the blue ones (The green ones will scratch). It is great on stainless steel...It keeps them looking brand new. I scrub it every time I use them...It takes off any black spots or that rainbow stain that stainless steel can get. I definitely use these gloves that I get at my local club store made for food service...because Bar Keeps has an acid so it will irritate your skin.

I don't think it would. You can contact KA on their website and ask. They have a chat function. The bowl would be too wide for the arms on the 5 quart.

@AmyLearnsToCook
@AmyLearnsToCook 8 жыл бұрын
+alicia The bowl on the 6 quart is significantly different in terms of width and depth. I would be concerned that the paddle would not go all the way to the bottom if you use a 6 quart bowl on a 5 quart mixer. You can do a live chat on the KitchenAid website and ask them. I would think that it probably won't work. I have a 6 and 5 quart and the bowls are different. I do know that the Commercial 8 and the Proline 7 can switch the bowl...but that is the only ones that I know of (except the 3 quart combi-whip set).

alicia I have the pro 5 plus and all of the accessories for the pro 600 also fit the pro 5 plus. The only thing is you'll need the matching 6qt beater with the 6qt bowl. You should also check your model number because all of the kitchenaid brand products specify which models it is compatible with. I even found out that there's a 3qt bowl and whisk that fit mine as well!

@AmyLearnsToCook
@AmyLearnsToCook 8 жыл бұрын
+BROWNBROWS The attachments will depend on which model that you have...if you order these, it might not work. I can suggest using the chat function on the KitchenAid website. They will ask you for your exact model number and will give you the model numbers for the attachments that work with your mixer. Then, you can take the model numbers and search Amazon. I wouldn't want to send you to the wrong part number.

Hi Sam! I can make a video comparing the Artisan and the Pro 600. I've purchased things from Everything Kitchen. You can find some good deals. You might also be able to get a Pro 600 as a refurbished that is a good price. Here is a link for one that is $262. They have a few different colors: amzn.to/2dIkLxt You might be able to catch a good deal on one during Black Friday.

It is hard because they don't use model numbers that correspond to the size of the part. I have to keep all my parts in little bins that are labeled so I don't mess them up. The 4.5 quart KA and the 5 quart Artisan have parts that are really close in size.
