@michellegosse55974 жыл бұрын
Her story is so tragic. I watched a documentary where her relationship with her father was fraught, and she was always looking for his approval and love. Combined with a boyfriend/husband who apparently shared those features, showed interest in other women, and was heavily into serious drugs such as heroin, I don't think she stood a chance. There is also the question of whether the father and husband saw her as a "cash cow" and pushed her to continue making money, thereby interfering with rehab.
@barbgrajewski96964 жыл бұрын
Exactly this. I think overlooking or understating the role of her father in this is a mistake. He went missing after the divorce, only to reappear when Amy started making money. There's also reason to believe that he was soft on her staying in rehab, as it interfered with her performing schedule. Not sure where her mom was in all this, either. Her father failed her.

That's so sad.... it's so true we carry these issues through our teens n 20s.. especially sensitive people. It's hard to climb out of if you start addictions to booze, over eating, abusive relationships .. cause the pattern is so deep now it's just more issues added to original ones. Plus as an adult, you have free will so by the time people might Realise you need help it's too late. Unless you get them commited which is only for actual crazy people, not self destructive ones. So you can't help at that point unless we want to help ourselves . I relate all too well. :(

Tender Heart She was a young talent with mental and addiction issues. She should have never been on stage. It is a shame it was allowed. When the contract is broken by the performer with substandard appearance, they react out of disappointment and feel duped. They paid money for tickets, transportation and with their time. I think the initial reaction is an irrational anger. Not a justification just throwing it out there as explanation.

based on the documentary which Includes quotes directly from her parents, they didn't really help her. Her mother said she knew about her eating disorder even as a teen, but swept it under the rug. Her father would push her to perform even when she didn't want to, and at one point she wanted to go to rehab but didn't because her father advised against it. One of my favorite artists. I feel like Amy was such a complex person and it comes across like she would mask her pain through substances. Yet, she was so famously defiant about receiving help. I wonder if she had all those disorders too. I think the only symptom questionable might be lack of identity...but again, we cannot draw that conclusion, because there appears like there was some possible forms of unstable self image if she had an eating disorder. However, she did appear to have unstable relationships at times and had assaulted people. But other diagnosis could explain that as well - depression/bipolar/substance use disorder. Her clustered symptoms are a bit befuddling. Although, certainly no one can argue that she didn’t she have substance abuse disorder since it is recorded and known she used. I sometimes wonder what was happening with those closest to her. Were they enabling her or trying to get her help (maybe both)? But, everyone is responsible for their own recovery or relapses. It just sucks she passed away because she was SO talented. Amy to me is iconic because of her vulnerability in her writing and unwavering ability to create songs and music. Although, I wish she was still around so we could enjoy her artistry and music. Thank you so much for this video, Dr. G! Great work 🙏🏻

It's not about just her struggles with weight. She was bulimic from a very young age. Then she started excessively drinking, then the drugs and the constant stress, the scrutiny from the public eye. All of this was a cocktail that ended her life. Months before she died the doctor evaluated her and said to her, if you do not stop drinking the amount that you are, you are going to die - do you want that? She had said no. But couldn't help herself and binged on alcohol. Years of self inflicted abuse from drugs, self harm, stress, bulimia it takes a toll on your body. Her heart stopped. The poor girl lead herself top far down a path to get herself back up. She was making progress but the damage to herself was already done. She was also a very petite very small woman. Her body gave out.

That was a man who seemed truly not to care about anyone or anything. Even serial killers seem to care about how they're perceived to some extent. Maybe you can provide some new insight? In his case specifically. I believe GG actually mentioned in a documentary that if he wasn't involved with music , he'd probably be a mass murderer/serial killer. I've heard other people make statements like that , but I think it's just for show. I genuinely believed him when he said he'd probably be a murderer. It's also worth mentioning that as a youth he didn't use drugs, until his brother slipped him some LSD without his knowledge. I always wondered if that contributed to his destructive personality.

This is the most instructive thing I have ever heard about bipolar vs. BPD. I have never been clear about the similarities, the differences, and how to tell them apart. This is where therapists have to look deeper than current symptoms or strictly what the patient is telling them. It's part of a much larger life pattern. This is all MUCH clearer to me now and also helps explain some patterns I've seen both in myself and in other people.

Doctor Grande if you have not already covered him I would really like to hear your take on Warren Jeffs. I'm very curious about your opinion on his personality and why that even from his jail cell he still yields power over the flds community that calls him prophet. I apologize if you already did cover him. I would like to watch that video if it's already been made.

Omg Dr. Grande! Was sleepily watching in class and what comes up? A vid of TG giving a particular psych assessment...was from super early on but I was SO excited, Lol! Ps: if ya need to give any skill based assessment, or CBT role play, or ANYTHING this channel has ya covered! I had previously recommended his channel a few times for MH insight.

Dr. Grande, do you have any idea how amazing your videos are?! I hope you know how much your analysis is appreciated, on this subject and all of the subjects you discuss. Your incomprable use of logic, your scientifically backed reasoning -- and the little hidden specs of humor you so sublty interject.. just excellent content all around.

Initially Seeing Amy and hearing her vocally she was beautiful, strong and was a genius. I think Trouble arose when having to deal with troubled and evil folk around her and she Not having tools, skills and a support system to affectively deal with them so she medicated and lashed out when necessary to protect the Self. This is how I view what happened to Amy. The industry often destroys the Best Talent. All the labeling is the part of many people's problems as well. Amy Winehouse,What a Beautiful Soul!

I am not fond of labels. They are mostly cheap tricks to my way of seeing them. Poor Amy Winehouse, RIP Amy. Life is hard if you pay attention!

Her music and songs said it all, ironically we probably wouldn't have had the incredibly real and profound lyrics, unless she had lived the tragedy that was her life and she said so , I remember a well known celebrity saying that when Amy won the multiple Grammy awards, which was the pinnacle of her fame, she had been clean for some time and she said that despite this unbelievable honor and vindication of her talent, she felt empty, meaningless, grey, without the drugs, so sad and actually hopeless for some people, the others in the "27" club seemed to have similar blessings and curses

Watching Dr. Grande videos has become my kink..I seriously can’t get enough of these videos. Could you do a speculative analysis of Ann Coulter? There’s no way that woman is free of either a personality disorder or mental illness.

Cheryl H Ann Coulter really baffles me. When I first decided that she was (as her public persona; I know I don’t know her) someone I didn’t like, I made myself pause and think about if I was so bothered by her because she’s a female. I’ve noticed society will hold women to totally different standards, but I know that I would find her behavior disturbing even if she was a man. I have wondered if she says and does things just to be outrageous and get attention, but I’ve watched content with her in it where the camera pans back to her while someone else is speaking, and it looks like she’s forcing herself to remain silent and still. To me, that gives the impression that she really is this very angry person who wants to lash out whenever she feels it’s appropriate. I understand that I have absolutely nothing to qualify me to evaluate her, and my opinion is meaningless, which is why I would love to have her behavior dissected.

This is the first time listening to one of your vids where I actually was struck with gratitude that you started this channel - because the perspective this type of analysis - which was brilliant of you to conceive and then start a channel doing, and then reliably doing it steadily and beautifully and responsibly - truly helps us understand this life and this world. Cudos and thank you. Truly, thank you.

One of the things you have to be aware of regarding Amy is that it seems that she was quite a different person before she started on the harder drugs and became famous. She had a good work ethic when she was making her first album and promoting it. She drank, but was against hard drugs and would only smoke weed. She seemed conscientious, more self aware and responsible. It all seemed to go wrong between her first and second album. She met Blake and broke up with him and started hitting the drink hard (but refused to go to rehab, famously). She got herself together and made the second album and promoted it, but then Blake came back into her life and she started hitting the hard drugs and tried heroin. It seemed to go down hill from there, with the erratic behaviour, self harm (cutting) and violent incidents. If you watch her earlier videos vs later ones she seems almost like a different person at times.

The origins of her problems (substance use, alcohol, feeling inferior) are all due to her father!! He killed her in that sense because he did not respect, value and protect her as an intelligent, mature and loving father should do. Celebrity on that level needs serious support. Not jerks. I see that I am not the only one luckily to have noticed and mention it. Please dr Grande check upon her fathers behavior.

Really great vid. I remember hearing her songs when her Frank album was released. She sounded so mature: a perfect blend of great singers like Billie & Ella mixed with a dash of hip hop. Such great phrasing. She was clearly a very, very bright woman. I was saddened when she passed away, but, respectfully, not too surprised.

Frances Bernard here. Insightful case analysis Dr. Grande.Unfortunate loss of a person with talent while she was not seeking spiritual support and then mental health treatment too. With alcoholism [Or in any other addiction too] that often goes along with sin pulling the person further into use of the toxic substance and then any underlying genetic predisposition towards a major illness like Bipolar Disorder, type 2 Diabetes etc. the person has will make the probability higher that the alcoholic will later develop the other diseases they are already for whatever reason like both environment and DNA inheritance more predisposed to than others are as well.

I might add while manic you can loose plenty of weight! I do. It's a reality. Plus I've heard she suffered bulimia nervosa" so I'm a bit confused ....could bit co- morbid disorder as you Dr guys" call it, I believe. I just see bipolar & maybe a ED. & it's often, addictions,happen,with us bipolars non medicated & impulsive ,anger,violent outbursts were all ME prior to treatment!! Just saying.....I got plenty paranoia & including Hallucinations....I disagree w you re suicide. I tried many times. Until they sorted me out. I'm hard to treat,being Rapid Cycling. So, my great Dr who specializes in bipolar advices in staying single. I'm this way. I'm a very intelligent woman but it's hard to concentrate. I'm easily distracted... even on meds & therapy though I, am well aware of my triggers. Right now,it's very high ...I just lost someone I love, my Nana. But I'm no famous person. If you live like these ppl you die like them. It's not cool to be in the 27 club" kids or adults!

That was interesting, thank you. What you said about conscientious, especially. This is such a huge deal in the creative arts. AW had something special as a musician and this brought her enormous success at such a young age. Talent can get you there, but the long haul requires conscientious, professionalism, stickability and bouncebackability. Resilience and character. Those don't come overnight. I've often wondered if she even wanted it. I mean, I'm not saying she sought to end her life, but was she already burned out, exhausted and fed up, with nowhere to go? Nothing around seemed that authentic and you really need the support of authenticity in the fickle and relentless entertainment industry.
