He pushed her to work even when she was at her worse rather than have her focus on overcoming her demons. He blamed Blake for introducing her to hard drugs, but it's not his fault she took drugs because of how she felt inside, she needed help to deal with her emotional issues not just a detox....she was screaming for help and her dad just ignored it....very sad

In the documentary 'Amy', her close friend had said that Amy just didn't think life or performing was 'any fun' without drugs or alcohol . Really sad, given her massive talent. The inability to enjoy life with sobriety was what, I think, took Amy down. If you don't want sobriety, there's little point trying to find it. She didn't want it I don't think, at least not enough..😞
@Evanescence10319 жыл бұрын
I think she had a disease called addiction and didn't know how to live sober. It's hard because you gotta want help to get better. I wish she had more time to realize she didn't need that stuff. Definitely wish she got healthy so she could still be here singing!
@abraxushellsing9 жыл бұрын
+ginny atchison It's not a matter of wanting something enough. Obviously you never experienced anything that even resembles addiction (that's a good thing, don't.) but drugs work in a simple way, they drain your dopamine resources . Something our brain releases in regular amounts when we do anything that benefits our body: eat, sleep, drink, fuck.....etc. Drugs make our bodies release massive amounts of dopamine that makes everything perfect- no other word for it, seriously. After quitting all addicts say they find everything boring because nothing in the world can make your body release that much dopamine again and everything is underwhelming. In the two years i was getting over my 4 year addiction we're so boring, you're not even depressed because you'd feel sad I was just numb and didn't care. My point is, it takes a while for your body to bounce back and i think she was still in her "bouncing back" period when she died.
@DragonBellyTravels9 жыл бұрын
I think heartbreak was Amy's demise through her vises of drugs and alcohol. RIP AW.
@Brooke525289 жыл бұрын
+Abraxus Hellsing I understand what you are saying in your reply, about finding life boring without drugs/alcohol, or what ever it may be. I get what you're saying about the massive flush of feel good chemicals, which we release when our brains are stimulated by our drug of choice. What I was trying to say in my previous comment was that I do get how Amy (or any addict) found life boring without chemical stimulation..in fact that is exactly what she said herself, as I had paraphrased. The body does feel very depressed after we try and break the cycle of addiction, and life can seem like it is hell in addiction, yet hell without. You get that of course, by what you said, explaining your own personal situation. But what I added in addition (in my original comment) was from my own personal life experience, and that it, a person HAS to want their recovery and not just need it because others may be concerned and can see that the addict is losing everything.That's all I meant. It is bloody hard to fill the space that addiction holds over us, boring, yes, depressing, absolutely . Also, there were apparently strong indications that Amy may have had BPD. If that was the case (as no psychological evaluation was ever carried out), this could be another reason why Amy, and millions of other people, can't quite break the cycle, even if they appear to be bouncing back for a period of time. Everybody has their own way of dealing with their addiction don't they, like you said about feeling numb and bored etc. We all have our own views, getting back to Amy, but at the end of it all, she was amazing and massively talented, her best was yet to come musically. I have just celebrated eight years of sobriety, having been very near to death, more than once, so perhaps you now understand that I DO in fact, have some experience of addiction. You can't presume that a person has 'obviously never experienced anything resembling addiction', based on a view point that you personally don't agree with. We just need to celebrate each and every sober/clean day because as you know, we are living proof that the cycle can be broken, even if the alternative seems worse for a long time.
@abraxushellsing9 жыл бұрын
ginny atchison I'm happy for you darling. I agree I was a little dismissive but mostly because I'm sick from hearing that stupid "you just need to want to get better" line from other people. White knuckling it though the first 10ish, seemingly eternal, days of agony turned out to be a fucking cake walk compaired to sticking with it.But yeah, we did only get to see a glimplse of Amy's potential and even that flicker kept me fascinated with her for almost 10 years not. @Gabrielle Dehetre Amy didn't die from a drug overdose, and its people like you that get it wrong and rumors start. Amy passed away from Alcohol poisoning. Her alcohol test done at the medical enamels office stated that her alcohol consumption for that day was more than 5 times the legal limit. She had NO ILLEGAL DRUGS IN HER SYSTEM AT THE TIME OF HER DEATH. NO THE FACTS BEFORE YOU PUT BULLSHIT COMMENTS FOR THE WORLD TO SEE. RIP AMY, YOU WERENT ONE OF THE GREATEST ARTIST, YOU WERE THE ABSOLUTE BEST OF THE BEST. YOU ARE AN ANGEL, SHINE DOWN ON US THAT LOVE YOU. 😇🙏🙌😇🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏👩🎤💜👩🎤💜👩🎤💜👩🎤💜👩🎤💜

Amy had been clean for a while so when she started drinking, her body literally went into shock and couldn’t handle it. Same with Janis Joplin, she had stopped doing drugs for months and when she unfortunately used heroine again for the first time after being clean, the heroine was too pure and killed her.

Okay, people are totally twisting this. Dionne Bromfield was Amy’s protege. Amy wasn’t high - she was leaving the spotlight to Dionne, because it was Dionne’s concert not Amy’s. You all need to let the woman rest in peace. She was a beautiful person, and if she had problems so what - every person has problems.

I believe when you say this to be her last performance. She looks like she's over it. just look at her body language. chewing gum not making eye contact she looks like she doesn't really gaf, like she's just there doing the job. & you call that dancing? I've seen performances when she was younger & when she just started to get big; Amy's face would lit up with joy. her eyes would be happy ya know? smiling it's just so sad. it hurts me to this day that she couldn't stay strong for herself and she let others break her down. drugs may numb you up but it will NEVER truly take the pain away. she just needed real love and care. rip Amy, love you & your music

Every year on the anniversary of her death, I re-watch these videos. It's hard to even look at the comments because they're just absurd and gross. As someone who's read the coroner's report, just about everything available about her final days, and who's been able to exchange several lengthy emails with Amy's mother Janice (who used to be quite active on Twitter years ago) ,it makes it even more frustrating when I see nasty commentary from people who know nothing. First, this video was taken 3 days before Amy's death, and she got on stage to drum up support for her goddaughter, Dionne, who was the one performing that night, not Amy. She was never expected to perform herself. Prior to this particular evening, Amy had been sober for three weeks, and she WAS getting help from a doctor who she checked in with on an almost daily basis. The doctor provided most of what is known about Amy's final days, and she spoke with Amy Friday evening, July 22nd, just hours before her death. Amy told the doctor she had been drinking on and off for about 3 days, which would have started the day that this video was taken. She does look a bit intoxicated here, but actually much healthier than she had been in quite awhile... especially after the Belgrade concert, when she looked practically catatonic. I suspect the thought of getting back up on a stage for ANY reason was probably enough to send Amy's anxiety through the roof (she was known to have terrible stage fright) and some people close to her have suggested that the relapse was fueled by seeing a tabloid report that day that her ex, Blake, became a father by his new GF. Amy desperately wanted children but couldn't get pregnant due to her substance abuse issues and poor health resulting from her eating disorder. Amy told her doctor, Dr. Romete, that despite some setbacks, she didn't want to die, but she remained opposed to trying any kind of evidence-based treatment modalities for her drinking or her mental health, and wanted to do it her way. As a long-time drug and alcohol counselor, I know many people who resist doing the real inner work required to stay clean and sober on a long-term basis because it requires looking at parts of ourselves we used drugs and alcohol to numb and/or bury all those years. While Amy had quit using drugs, she struggled to accept that she would never be able to moderate her use of alcohol, and she insisted she would find a way to drink socially, without falli g into the trap of overconsuming. Again, as someone who's worked in the field for a very long time, the research on addiction and the brain clearly shows (through thousands of brain scans and cadaver samples) that overuse or abuse of alcohol or drugs can permanently alter the brain functions that manage our survival mechanisms (i.e. the pleasure center) and our ability to make good choices, and more often than not, these changes aren't reversible, so that individuals who.previously quit can then move forward and begin consuming those substances again without overindulging or becoming physically dependent. Anyway... all of this to say that people shouldn't speak ill of the dead without first being properly informed or educated. Amy was a one in a million talent with an incredibly unique voice and a generous spirit, especially where children were concerned. I hope she rests in peace.
