This was Amy's last recording. When Tony tells the story he chokes up. This woman was a gift from the gods...a voice that was as pure blues as any female voice that ever dared to venture into that special world...heartbreaking to think of what we lost, what might have been.

If that's true, then it's kind of 'poetic' that the last note of her entire recorded repertoire was a major 2nd dissonance over a tonic chord, (with none other then Tony Bennett himself holding that tonic!). You can't teach a person to make those kinds of musical decisions, they have to just... feel it and know how to express it. I also love Tony's reaction and how he so effortlessly goes with it. A less experienced singer might have assumed it was a mistake, and stopped singing.

Amy was, is unique, was, is a special talent, much missed, lost far to soon
Maybe one day we'll travel through a wormhole in the universe and find all of our lost singers, musicians and other starbright talent! Not being kooky, just dreaming! But yes, what an original light AW was! Such a throwback, but also so far ahead of her time!
Amy did such a jazzy vibe for this. I felt like someone in a Smokey jazz club in the 1930s.

Tony Bennett always sees the potential in misunderstood talent it seems. Edit: y'all won't stop commenting that everyone knew she was talented, I know that. She was a misunderstood talent in the sense that everyone was using her as the butt of the joke, using her as as target practice in media and conversation. She was presented as an alcoholic mess and a lot of people didn't see past that. Please stop saying the same comment lol

I haven't seen the movie yet but I've reserved the DVD....Heard it is a heartbreaker. I love this woman to the core: her talent, her person, her tragedy. Nobody sings like her: raw, honest and so soulful your heart hurts every time she opens her mouth. Why did she have to go so soon..... I wish I was her friend as she went into a downward spiral -- I would have done everything in my power to help prevent the substance-abuse from destroying her.

The romance in this type of music has always been sensational. Tony Bennet, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and so many others that have sung along side some of the classiest women whose voices just sweep you off your feet. The love and the deep emotion was captivating. The stuff people listen to these days is senseless garbage. How i wish the days of love and romance were back. I truly feel people are hungry for classy music and are sick of rap crap...
