She is very very very expressive to show her feelings when singing the sad ones, she just feels the pain and loss and it just remembering. I thought that she looks exhausted from the tours, but i can feel that she was very sad. Despite this fact, her vocals are unique, full of passion for music and very versatile, none of her live performances does not looks the same. She just improvises continuosly and adapts so quickly. I’m a massive fan and love her for every fault and flaw and imperfection she had. Objectively, her best period of vocal performance was in 2006 and most of 2007. Sadly, I think this performance took place post-August 2007. That’s the couple of months when she smoked a little bit of crack (thanks to her ex-husband). That, along with the tremendous alcohol, extensive bulimia, and any Londoner’s noughties’ amount of cigs, gave way to a weakened and strained voice. She never, ever lost her ability to riff, improvise, write, or exude live the immense emotions she felt while initially writing those songs. She did lose her vocals to an extent, and I think that’s pretty clear here compared to performances just 1-3 months prior. To confirm, her brief career leading up to this August ‘07 point was one million times more than enough for any singer/songwriter to go down in history, and I believe she remains among the best jazz vocalists of all time.

It’s nearly impossible to put into words, but almost every single Londoner I’ve ever come up to and asked about Amy has very quickly led to an incredible and often comical story about her. I always knew they were telling the truth-no matter how absurd the story-because I was so often violently shaken by the arms to better understand just how special she was. I’ve never in my life seen such a unifying reaction about a person (let alone celebrity) across such a massive and diverse city like London. Camden, Limehouse, Soho, Shoreditch-it didn’t matter. Whoever I asked, wherever it was in London, there was someone with an Amy anecdote ready. Each person’s story was always positive and always unique. Altogether, the combination of these stories would make a hilarious biography or maybe even something like a best-selling life story. I only wish to convey how special and talented Amy was. She remains forever in the hearts of Londoners. For those that don’t understand that concept, I hope you can discover her music on your own and realize what the rest of us have: that Amy Winehouse was one of the greatest singers of our generation.

Big fan as well- I also think this is in 2008, 2008 wasn’t a very good year for Amy, I usually think of Rock in Rio 2008, which I refuse to even watch because it’s so upsetting to me. However Glastonbury 2008 is my all time favorite performance from her But I agree that no matter the flaws she still was a true jazz artist with inventing riffs and changing notes.
