I have an issue with the prices some indie brands are charging. For instance, Unearthly Cosmetics charges $78 for a palette when their previous pricing used to be affordable. The shimmers are just more sparkly, but that's it. Even Bella Beaute Bar charges $69 for a palette with a lot of multichromes, so I don't see why Unearthly charges such a high price. I find it unwarranted.
@TracyD29 ай бұрын
I won’t do it. Nope and the shipping prices. Go F yourself with that (I mean them). People are sucked in by the supernatural themes and sparkly swatches. It’s not even unique anymore. Every week another witchy themed makeup company is popping up. Don’t get me wrong I like the “supernatural “ but 🥱 💤 at this point. Some are getting very lazy with their so called duochromes or trichromes formulas. Barely a flip for those prices. Rant over for now. 😬
@Dinozzzaur8 ай бұрын
They went up to $78?!
@MichyScentsАй бұрын
8 months later and I’m commenting, I totally agree with the fact that Unearthly is charging Bella Beaute and Ensley Reign prices but isn’t giving us the same quality shimmers as those brands. Unearthly has made some beautiful palette releases in 2024 but the price is pretty high! It chokes me to pay $70 for an Ensley Reign or Bella Beaute BUT man the mattes and shimmers are so so good!!! Unique, shifty or just insane impact shimmers!

This was brilliantly informative! I’m nobody, but there have certainly been a few brands that I was utterly dedicated to, but when the owner started publicly showing her true self, and also randomly discontinuing incredibly popular products, that was it for me. I can find a near dupe for my holy grail products - I don’t need the garbage attitude!

Midas is the perfect example of an indie brand who could've been huge but had no knowledge of how to run a business & ran it into the ground. I think if I could give one piece of advice to anyone thinking about starting a brand (or already has) it's to take a business course!! It's obvious so many indie brand owners haven't & it has only hurt them. As for jdglow, I think they're rebranding since sales have tanked after the owner used the brand acct to comment on prolife content in favor. Yikes.
@KagomeYasha0239 ай бұрын
Omg I completely forgot about Midas cosmetics
@Andy-xx3tt8 ай бұрын
Even before the pro-life comments, the owner was really snarky and unnecessarily rude to people sometimes. I had wanted some of their stuff but then I kept seeing the owner being like that and I just unfollowed. Some people really have no business running a company if they don’t have the money to pay someone to manage their social media. I’ve seen some that try to make being “real” their brand and I’m like girl no, that’s hurting your business! Even on places like Mercari or Poshmark, some sellers are SO rude to people that ask questions or they’re unprofessional in their listings like demanding glowing reviews or trying to set their own rules even though it’s not their platform.

Adept is on that list for me. Years ago they 'refused' to ship my pallets, after waiting 3 months for a pre order that I had already paid for. All this simply because I inquired about a prior order that was missing several individual shades, via email. They were nasty and dismissive. Needless to say I haven't ordered from them since. Honestly their quality is great, but several other indie brands have 'exactly' the same formula, and comes out of the same lab as several other indie brands. It's just not right to treat loyal customers like that, and I won't support brands that treat anyone that way.

@@KagomeYasha023 Yeah it was CRAZY! They were completely nasty, because they messed up my order!? I also feel like some smaller indie brands that were hand pressing and then stopped started pushing out new color stories faster. The faster releases of color stories haven't helped them. The quality is better, but the quality of the color story isn't there.

So I can share my Coloured Reign order that had taken as of today more than 9 months!!! I still don’t have the Queen palette. I will be more cautious in ordering from overseas and a small indie brand. I don’t want to go through again. Sorry indies, but you need to be better when you’re reaching large swath of consumers via KZbin!!! Figure it out!

I didn't know anything about indie makeup until 2019.
@kerriwright45939 ай бұрын
The brand killer queens really struggled with keeping up with orders lying to everyone about shipments, always blaming ups, so on and so forth. I ordered 1 palette from them that said it would take 6 weeks. It took 9 months or something crazy like that. Other people's comments were that they never even received items or refunds. Idk that was a hot mess. I understand getting overwhelmed but then stop releasing shit and get caught up and don't lie to people. Most people are reasonable.

@jldunn77919 ай бұрын
@@AmyLovesMakeupI agree that is true, but there have also been instances where small brands get see frivolously in order to sink the brand or take it over, and I’m not convinced this suit isn’t that type of attack
@Dinozzzaur8 ай бұрын
I feel like it's helpful for influencers to name brands that aren't fulfilling orders. The silence from Shroud and Uoma this last year have been very loud. I guess I just want a warning passed throughout the indie community. "Such and such hasn't sent any orders out or posted on social media for three months. Don't buy from them until we see some movement on their side." Your channel was one of the few that said anything about Shroud Cosmetics and I wish there were more non-gossipy warnings from influencers.

JD Glow in the comments said they were going to represent themselves but had to do paperwork for it and it was too much for them to deal with. Like what? You can’t handle some paperwork but can run a brand? 🥴
@Breighyn9 ай бұрын
One is something they learned as they went over time and is something they're passionate about and one is something people go to several years of school to learn to do and is only legal for a layman to take on themselves because forcing people to pay for services would be punishing the poor. Acting like its weird to find one thing easier than another is a bizarre take, especially knowing how stressful legal stuff is for anyone.
@onewhisper220059 ай бұрын
@@Breighyn not really. You don’t need to go to law school to be able to fill out the paperwork. There’s a ton of info online telling exactly how to do it and to follow the guidelines for the state it’s in. Of course, it’s stressful, especially when it’s not something you’re familiar with. I never said it was weird one thing is easier for them than the other. But trying to say it’s easier to just close down your brand completely and start a new one than to file some paperwork to see how it shakes out in court is what’s weird.
