Exactly the way I felt for a long time - but was afraid to say that I truly think he is better than them all - including Beethoven, Mozart, whoever. And if they had to award the Nobel Prize to a musician, it should have been Paul Simon, not Bob Dylan.

What is amazing is he makes no attempt to sing the song the way he did originally. Instead he uses the ravages of age that time has left on his voice to give us a beautiful, unique rendition full of the wisdon, love and pain of life. It’s beautiful. Definitely a touch of the divine.

Scientifically speaking, brains tend to 'freeze' around songs they love at about 11-14 years old. This effect fades slowly til the late 20s, after which most songs don't create near the same emotional effect of songs from previous decades. So the music of today is equally good. Your 'fossilized' brain just can't hear these songs objectively. Also, this particular rendition of Sound of Silence is pathetic. He'd barely get applause at a rural open mic. But that's a topic for another day....

I first heard Paul sing this in England in the sixties. Then I heard Paul sing this in the eighties and 2000s. I'm so pleased to hear it again

This song didn't cause them to split. Simon recorded a song on his own without Art knowing, and that caused the split.

You can be absolutely proud of what you have done, Mr. Simon. Your voice is not anymore what it used to be, but this is even more intense that way. Please play play and play until the last song. The world need real artists more than ever.
