We're planning the same way with food...thinking of our favourites, letting the family take turns picking what we'd like to enjoy. Today we have ham and cheese sliders for lunch as we all enjoy warm/toasted sandwiches to keep things different. Lots of fruit to go along with those...plus dirty jambalaya later on with some veggies on the side. A real favourites with all of us and leaves great leftovers. We'll be eating both in the garden thanks to the nice weather right now too! Luckily it's almost noon...talking food's making me hungry!

If you're low on butter/oil you can always used mashed beans! Add a little water so they are pasty. You'll never know the difference in baked goods!

My family owns a steel manufacturing business and we also have a machine shop with all kinds of Cnc machines. It is amazing what they build. Your husband is very handy and creative just like mine is. My mother did not home school but she had her hands full because it seemed like my dad was out of work a lot due to the shop going on strike every time a contract came up for renewal. One time it was three months.

I don't know if your allowed too, but have you guys ever thought of making some more flat space by cutting into the mountain side (not a Hugh area) just enough to give you some more green grass space. If the law permits you to, the best and hardiest grass for the job is Canadian blue, it give density and a lush colour and will definitely put up with dogs and children playing on it. Great family time by the way, lovely

I haven’t tried it, however I read somewhere that if you don’t have eggs and want to bake: 1 T of cornstarch mixed with 3T of water can be substituted for each egg. 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️

You have gotten me into a nice groove of preparing my meats for the month which is saving me time and money and guaranteeing that I won’t eat two heaping bowls of cereal for dinner as it’s usually just me as my kids are on their own now. My question is how the heck do you stand all day? I have bad arthritis and I suffer terribly. What shoes do you wear when you’re gonna be in the kitchen all day? I believe the shoes effect everything. I usually wear crocs for housework but it’s not doing the trick.

I’m sure that creek has crawdads, or as us Aussies call them “yabbies”. Your children might like to try catching some for fun. All you do is get some cotton thread about 5 foot long and tie a small piece of raw beef or chicken on the end and throw it in the water, leave it sitting for about 5 minutes then pull it in really slowly. You can sometimes feel them tugging and when near the creek bank you can try and flick them on the land or a small net is good to scoop them up. I used to do this for hours as a child and I loved it.
