What a treat to see your lovely self, and your dear Mum here on the podcast. It was a most special part of my VKL experience to have time with you both at the Gala dinner. I didn't even finish watching this episode when I decided I had to have that Jared Flood blanket book! I popped out to my local Chapters bookstore and snagged one ASAP! I also picked up a mug with a perky message in cross stitches, and then stopped at the grocery next door and bought some cruffins, so my day and belly are full and rich! 😅💗

Amy, I am glad you guys brave the weather and enjoy my city. Bryant Park is always special to me as is a handkerchief of greenery in the middle of the skyscrapers. We need lots of trees everywhere but specially in this very busy city. I am sad about your giant old tree in the Botanical garden been broken like a match. I hope they get on planting soon, after all spring is almost here ;-)

Amy, thank you so much for your thoroughly delightful video. I watched every minute of it! Your knitting is so impressive. I particularly liked that headband where you used all those different brioche stitches. You looked beautiful in it. It's so comforting to be able to watch you and your beautiful colors and listen to your soothing voice, especially at this time in the U.S. when everything has been turned on its head and, each morning when we wake up, we don't know what the catastrophe of the day will be. Amy I loved this episode, but it saddens me to see the Botanical Gardens have lost so many of their treasures, this is my favourite place in Edinburgh. I used to go there with a dear friend on those cold sunny days and I just found so much peace and joy from walking amongst those trees. Thanks for sharing the poem, you seem to read my mind as just earlier today I was thinking I should get one of Mary Oliver books and start reading them, as she seems to write a language that speaks to me. you and your mum are so sweet together!! thank you for sharing your VKL experience. i went almost totally deaf in my right ear for about 3 months a few years ago when i had shingles on my face and it was quite a weird experience. i remember i kept thinking that things weren't working eg speakers in my car, television etc, constantly forgetting that it was my ear that wasn't working. hope your hearing issues are resolved soon!

Great VKL roundup. So many beautiful things. I know you and your Mother had a wonderful time. You are so lucky to be able to share the experience with each other. And especially thank you for highlighting the importance of trees and the effects of their loss. A single oak tree can support up to 2300 individual species. Everything from birds, mammals, reptiles and amphibians, caterpillars and other insects, fungi and many beneficial microorganisms. The good thing is that with care, they will replace and regrow - as long as we give them the opportunity.

Simply delightful Amy as you always are and your Mum too !! So very sad about the 'lost' trees some of which we 'touched' when in magnificent botanical gardens in Scotland a decade or so ago. The age of many is almost incomprehensible and their loss unfathomable. Hope your hearing improves soon !

Yes - it certainly felt that way to me too. And, perhaps even broader in that the ways of the feminine as available to us all are being dishonoured and suppressed right now, and things feel very out of balance. But, I guess, if I lean more fully into the wisdom of the buried feminine it is to remember the cyclic nature of all things. And while that’s not an invitation into passivity, it is, perhaps, incentive not to despair.

I think the advancement of women’s rights the world over are a bit on the back foot right now. It’s so important to stay informed. We’ve come so far, but still such a long way to go, globally, collectively, nationally and interpersonally.

Amy, my ears used to be just like your left one when I was little. Have you and your doctor spoken about needing tubes put in your year? I had lost 40% of my hearing by the time I was 6 - two rounds of tubes got me hearing again. Also, do you see a chiropractor? Sometimes adjustments can help, as well as red light therapy. Beware, the Knit & Crochet Blankets book has errors in many of the patterns. I wasted hours knitting a whole repeat of the Warp + Weft pattern before I realised that the chart was completely wrong. When I contacted the publishers they were less than helpful - directed me to the website containing errata. I wonder whether Jared Flood is aware of this.

Ah gosh, well, I stumbled upon Jean Shinoda Bolen’s Goddesses in Everywoman while completing my PhD back in 2008. Initiated a deep dive and the beginning of my own personal goddess practice. Started my goddess guidance work in 2010 drawing upon archetype and ancient myth to provide deep seeing and practical support for women meeting the challenges of the contemporary moment. Can’t believe that was 15yrs ago now!!

I think it’s a Stephen West mash up of Shawlography and Striped Esjan. She’s knitted the Shawlography as per pattern up to the border and then switched out that border for the one from Striped Esjan.
