@@TheRookCrows To be fair, Birdie's claim that she may be a thief, but not a liar also falls flat. The two often go hand-in-hand and they never deny that they've earned their reputations for being untrustworthy scam-artists with both the Seelie and Unseelie Courts. I think Birdie and Ollie are trying to do the right thing. But I think they're both full of shit too.

What I love about the moment where Birdie leans in to whisper a threat to Yu, it seems like Yu came out on top because she got the last quip. But then later it's revealed that it was just an excuse on Birdy's part to get close enough to pickpocket Yu's stuff, in particular the tracking ring. XD

Yu and Birdie are such fun foils. They are both grey-area ends-justify characters. Neither are the "good guys." both are manipulative fey tricksters. only real question is law vs chaos.

I wouldn't even say Yu is a villain. Just a potential antagonist- to the party. Will they keep their promise? Will they turn against the Unseelie Court? Whose motivation is more "good". Imogen even says that on the surface it looks like Birdie is the villain/in the wrong.

This part of the story felt like one of those Telltale Games where you have to choose who do you side with. I would choose Birdie because I knew Yu was a manipulative asshole, but when Imogen said that Birdie is working with Ira that puts many things into question. Birdie is motivated to seek the greater good and save her daughter, even if it means working with a psychopath like Ira, and Yu is a honorable paladin of the Unseelie Court seeking to uphold the law, but then you have to remember Yu embraces malevolent desires and if you check their class they are a paladin with an oath of conquest, meaning they can justify any horrible acts in the name of the authority they serve. Birdie will make the world safe for her daughter at any cost and Yu is willing to killing many innocent people for her pride as a paladin of the Unseelie Court.
@AdamEspersona

That, and Ira did spare Bells Hells BECAUSE he noticed Fearne being a Calloway. They would have all died otherwise, and the Weave Lens would have been lost, and he would have realized too late, thus ruining everything. That, and the Unseelie were using the crown for evil purposes while colluding with Otohan Thull and the Grey Assassins. Which is what infuriated me when Bells Hells kept being swayed by Yu's manipulation until Birdie could properly explain once Yu was gone. Besides, I do hope that Yu ends up realizing that she's been nothing more than a Pawn for the wrong team, and they had no idea because of their blind devotion to the court.

@@AdamEspersona When Yu started shapeshifting to try to seduce Orym and Laudna she lost points of her argument while Birdie tried to explain with all honesty that she is a thief and has done bad things, but she is trying to do what is right.

@@arturoreyescortez2476 and Yu lost Fearne completely when Laudna pointed out that Yu was getting in her head, thus leading to that epic callout and comparison to Delilah. Side note: I hope that Yu's own rebuttal DOES eventually lead to BH actually checking in on Laudna, because that was one of the few good points they made.

"We do this for the greater good" is often the sign of some of the worst people like Birdie and Yu.
@AdamEspersona
@AdamEspersona 2 жыл бұрын
@@Mr.Inktail the difference between Yu and Birdie, though, is that the former cannot see the forest for the trees, too blinded by devotion to their home and the same court that is using the red moon for personal gain. Birdie, on the other hand, is fueled by love for her daughter and having actually lived outside the Feywild for six years.

I love how Yu walked the line of being dickish and even borderline cruel but never actually did anything "evil" or even truly villainous. Her biggest actual deed while with the group was actually saving one of their lives, meanwhile her arguments may have a cynical twist but they also all had a logic to them. Just based on what we saw her do she's actually guilty of less evil deeds than Chetney is. It's a great way to play this kind of antagonist where even if you hate them, even if you know they aren't good people, you can't simply discount and ignore things they say because they aren't cardboard villains.

I will die on the hill that Birdie and Oleander are not bad parents and made the logical choice by working with Ira. They were just delt with the worst hand possible and since both of the court didn't want to believe them, they *had* to turn to Ira for help because literally who else in the world could they have trusted. If the courts laughed at them for believing something weird was happening with the moon, do you honestly think the rest of the government bodies of Marquet, Tal'dorei and Wildemount would have believed them???
@AdamEspersona

That, and the Unseelie was colluding with Exandrians to use Ruidus with foul intentions. Yeah, Birdie and Ollie made the right call, and it infuriates me that Imogen did NOT let go of the Ira thing by trying to shame her with the "harming children" jab, something that Birdie had already claimed NOT to know anything about. I honestly hope that Ira reminds Bells Hells that he could indeed have killed them all, if he hadn't sensed Fearne being a Calloway.

@@AdamEspersona no, absolutely not, Imogen was bang on RIGHT. Ira doing the right thing in this instance should NOT be used to erase the evil he’s done before. Is it justifiable that in this instance, Birdie and Ollie turned to Ira for help? Yes. Does that make that alliance right? No. And they need to be aware of the depths Ira is capable of, without shrugging it off in the name of “the greater good”. The greater good can so often be turned into the greater evil.
@AdamEspersona
@AdamEspersona 2 жыл бұрын
@@hkazu63 not saying it erases what happened. That and Imogen is right to be extremely wary, but what happens when that distrust (which is justified) ends up getting in the way of doing the actual right thing? For the time being, it has to be put aside, resolve what happened later. And to her credit, Birdie does acknowledge that it's morally questionable, but as is, she and Ollie have little choice.

Yeah. All of Birdie and Ollie's confidence in their course and the idea that they know what they're dealing was heavily called into question recently. The fact that they may have unwittingly traded away Fearne's childhood to a Fey, a hag mind you, that they thought they could "trust" really makes me think they're in way further over their head than they think.

Wibbly wobbly, time is a strange soup, 6 years or 120 years is a matter of perception and experience. What I took these revelations is the Morigan needed more than a century to make the lens, which Ashton broke in less than 6 seconds. Grandma Morrie is immortal though, and she was doing other things, like domain maintenance, reminding 2 fey courts they had no control over her, and raising Ferne as a wildfire druid. She's kind of a busy entity no wonder she works in shifts.
