Spider plants prefer to stay above 55 degrees and cannot handle freezing temperatures. They do well in low light and bright light and prefer to stay on the moist side but can handle drying out occasionally. Great, easy house plant. Be warned that cats love to chew on them 🙂

Dearest Jess, I feel like I have said this before, and I will say it again. Our lives have so many synchronicities, moving to a new farm over the same period, learning about a new piece of land and dreaming it into something it never was, so many days your content speaks to my soul as you calm my nerves with your ‘over shares’ and content you think the general masses are not looking for. I love it and I am so grateful for you. I took my phone while watching this post to my hubby who ‘knows Jess’ through me, and he could not believe the spider plant in your green house, I have just propagated over a hundred babies from my mother plants to distribute on our piece of land under the trees, you see I live in a very hot place in South Africa and we know the Spider plant as a Hen and Chicken which is indigenous to RSA. They have roots like elephant garlic that are bulbs that are extremely drought tolerant which is needed for where I live. So as I have read above the spider plant will tolerate all kinds of environments, but here were we live they thrive in dry shade under tree’s with little attention. If feels weird to tell you I feel blessed to have you in my life when you know so little about me… but I guess thats your gift to the world touching our lives with your sweet heart, making the world a better place with every breath you take. Much gratitude and love coming your way from my heart to yours.

Just sticking this on here to be taken as it is. A group of women in our chicken group, took a clutch of eggs and ran warm water in the sink, added a cap full of liquid bleach, and "washed" the eggs prior to setting them, don't soak but a gentle wash or rubbing the dirt away. The eggs were rinsed well with fresh warm water, patted dry, and set as day one. 21 days later we all had 98% hatch rates. We were in different states and used different breeds of birds from our flock. We have always been told to never wash the eggs to protect the bloom but right before they go in the incubator was when we washed them and it worked too. No issues caused by poppy eggs and no bacteria risks, no blood rings of failures. We did several hatches as we tried it over the summer and we all had higher hatch rates than years prior. So unless you have valuable exotic eggs, it would be worth trying to prevent a rotten egg explosion in the incubator. I will not incubate any questionable eggs again without the wash first. It is less than a 10% solution which is what we use to sanitize tools and restaurant tables but is safe to use at that strength. You decide for yourself but we are in mud season and if you want to incubate eggs give it a try.

Spider plants are so fun because you can give all the little babies to your friends! Except for I have to keep replacing my larger ones with the baby ones because my cats like to eat them!🫠 Also, they do love water. You can actually leave them in just water if you don’t want them to get too large, but it would most likely be an annual plant if you planted it outside..so might want to keep Robbie in a pot under the fountain so you can bring him in when it gets cold.😊

Spring seems to have definitely sprung here. This morning it dipped to close to freezing, at daybreak. Ten day forecast low of 60’s highs in 80’s. I’m totally loving the Louisiana Irises around the fountain with the Ewok ⛲️ and I’d probably put the eagle out at the end of my driveway where it splits into a circle… planning a garden bed there with Sega palms and hostas with ferns and liriope all around… it’s a shady spot. Anyway, nice to see seedlings popping up and you spending more time in the greenhouse! Have a fantastic day!

I just doesn't matter what your content is, I always enjoy listening/watching. God has gifted you for such a time as this❤️ In my experience, Spider plants are not cold tolerant. I am able to put mine outside for the summer, should be partial shade due to hot summers here. Last year I didn't get it watered enough for the heat it endured, but it is so Hardy that it survived inspite of me😉 AND under the stress produced an amazing abundance of babies!! It's a living object lesson from the garden of what God can do in one's life when we're in a valley of suffering/stress!

Sweet Jess, I plan on direct sowing my lettuce seeds after my last frost. In the mean time, I've started growing lettuce in water by using the ends of my last lettuce heads. When I make a salad, I just cut the leaves of the ends which are growing roots in water.. This holds me over until I can harvest from the garden. I'm doing celery this way, and test some bok choy ends as well. Nice flat of lettuce, and brasacas!

We have an Ambient Weather Station and put one of the temperature sensors in our greenhouse. It has been so helpful as we can see the temp on the weather station display in the house, but also on our phones and computers. We can look at wave graphs every day to track conditions for the previous day or month, etc. The GH can heat up to 100F. so fast on a sunny day, even when it is very cold outside here in Colorado. I set alarms on my phone to check each day to check the temp in the morning and then later in the afternoon when the sun lowers in the sky and the greenhouse needs to be closed up. We have automatic vents in the GH, but sometimes they are not enough, especially on sunny days. Well worth the money we spent to set it up.

Yes, we have lots of spider plants growing in our outdoor garden, including under a fountain - they multiply about as much as you might expect. We live in South Australia in an area that barely reaches freezing in winter and has hot, dry summers. I think it might be equivalent to USDA zone 10. Once you get past the risk of frosts Robbie will be happy pretty much anywhere and will love any water coming his way. You could transplant him into the ground even, then dig him up before your first frost date.
