I’m astounded at how much of the G1 toy transformation survives in this figure. It takes the “Keep It Simple, Stupid!” mentality of the original toy and just expands on the parts of each step. I despise a lot of modern masterpiece and 3P for being up their own butts with how clever they think they are, but this is just simple and clever. They didn’t reinvent the wheel, just made it a lot rounder. :3

I don’t hate the Legacy figure like most but I do wish it had done this, and I think a mentality like this one is why Legacy Sandstorm turned out so well. G1 triple changers were actually really well thought out and deserve to inspire new toys of those characters in how they transform more than they do

I think a lot of third party party blitzwings (and astrotrains) retain aspects of their original transformation because it just WORKS. They're simple but well considered and they get the job done right, there's no reason to waste effort reinventing them

The biggest mistake with that evolution Blitzwing IMO was getting too cute with the jet wings. And then having to fake them in robot mode. What baffles me with this $115 version is it too doesn’t get the horizontal stabilizers for the plane’s tail. But that tank mode for this $115 version is shockingly good. I got my legacy evolution Blitzwing for $27 on clearance so I really can’t complain. It’s just that both alt modes are so jank… No way I’m paying $115 for a toy, but that is a very good version of the G1 toy!

This is the reissue of this figure and it fixed a ton of earlier issues. It also made the dark purple accents and tan sections darker, so it looks much better, too. Also, when you're transforming the nose of the jet, you can open that top panel and stick a finger in there to make those vent sections fit into place properly. I've seen several reviewers miss that.

IMO, this is one of the best modern MP style figures from any company. The transformation between all 3 modes is so smooth with everything fitting together quite well. All 3 modes look good and have minimal to no extra kibble. Every time I take this guy off the shelf I'm reminded how much I enjoy fiddling with him. And for the price that he's going for, he's a complete bargain. For anybody that is on the fence on whether or not they should pick this guy up, I'd say do not hesitate. 10 out of 10 figure, imo.

Here's a tip for aligning the airvents in jet mode: you can push the airvents back into alignment from the gap of the lower abdomen at 7:00 before you close it up 6:50!

I was able to somehow nab the first run of this for $80 and man, what a steal. I do wish it had the better colors of this second run, but eh, whatever. This is my MP Blitzwing, no need for the FT at that price. And I think they did the single waist skirt because unless you kick ALL the way up, you don't even need to move the skirt at all. Think they went for clean most of the time rather than panel lines all the time.

This reminds me, I really need to order more Rolling Thunder figures from them. The one I got (the one you featured in your video) is so fucking awesome that I have it permanently out on my nightstand, and I routinely transform it back and forth. It's so hefty and sturdy, and very well constructed (not to mention being roughly MP sized), that I can't help but fiddle with it. And it comes with its own Roller!

This transformation looks like something I'd really enjoy. I like messy and complicated; my favorite in my own collection is probably my Metagate Red Fantasy and that can take me up to half an hour sometimes to get from one mode to another, especially if I'm not rushing. Transformations are what I like about transformers; when they're short and simple I always feel a little cheated. Too bad I don't like the aesthetics. I've never really been a cartoon fan, I was always a comic fan first and foremost. So I'm very happy Hasbro's been remembering we exist and issued some comic-styled bots recently... I like both Marvel and IDW, but cartoon-accurate toys always just seem a bit bland to me.
