While I'm cis, I've always been SUPER fascinated by this aspect of the trans experience. The vocal cords can be naturally modified/tuned through training, but the process takes much, MUCH longer than any other aspect of transitioning. It's quite interesting, hearing a trans friend's voice gradually shift to more accurately match their identity over the course of years.

Hello everyone! I'm MTF and I would like to mention some things that helped me throughout my journey of changing my voice for any of you who are still having trouble! I have a very naturally deep voice and sounding feminine was a big issue for me. A lot of people used to say I just sounded like a really gay bodybuilder, but I've learned many things that have helped me feminize my voice to a much higher degree. 1: Think of your goal simply as removing the bass from your voice rather than changing the pitch (like the video says). How you ask? It's actually really simple! It just takes a little muscle memory. You can do the same exercises that Lucy has mentioned in her video, but there's also a great trick I learned. First, try speaking in your normal voice while lowering and raising the pitch for reference. This helps you compare the difference to better understand if you're doing it correctly. Second, begin talking in a normal monotone voice while attempting to incorporate the "whisper screaming exercise" that Lucy mentions. When you do this correctly, the pitch of your voice won't change at all, but you will notice a massive change in the overall sound of your voice. It's almost like there's a separate hole in your throat for bass and you're covering it. 2: Never quickly give up because you feel like the goal is "unrealistic" or "literally impossible" because of a disliking towards your own voice. I have heard vocal transitions that are genuinely incredible, and anyone is capable of doing the same thing. Your goals are much more realistic than you think they are, and this simply takes practice just like any other skill. 3: Have close friends/family members listen to your voice and give you pointers that you don't notice. Look, I know, it's embarrassing at first and you feel humiliated doing it in front of anyone, but this helps a lot more than you might think. You hear your own voice much differently than other people do, and getting the opinion of another ear can really help your vocal training go in the right direction. Other people notice many things about yourself that you don't, especially when it comes to speech. I did this with my boyfriend for a while and it really helped me moving forward. Using a microphone and playing back voice recordings also helps too if you don't want to do it in front of anyone! 4: Avoid making extremely large or aggressive changes to your voice, but rather gradually let it settle in over time. Immediately trying to go "all the way" usually ends up sounding unnatural. It's the sound of impatience! Remember to give yourself long training sessions and take your time with each part of your exercises. Don't jump too far forward, just slowly move into it and experiment, finding ways to push it further while still sounding natural. There's a few tips for you guys, I really hope it helps! Please note that not everyone is the same, and some of these suggestions may not help you like they helped me. Everyone's journey has its own story, and the best thing that you can truly do for yourself is doing what you find comfortable and most effective. I hope you all have a great day, happy transitioning! 💖

This is the first trans voice video where i wasn't be like "what the hell is that word mean and more important how is it even spelled?!" for literally every second word of this video. In short: It's realy the best video on this platform and it deserves to be much more popular. :>

Sidenote and first update. I think? It's going somewhat well, but I really just wanted to gush about me getting a meta quest 3 and simple just seeing my hands and pink puffy sleeves nearly made me cry immediately. Like this feels so amazing and I could go on and on but this is THE moment it all just feels right to me and reaffirms my feelings.

Thank you so much for this. Every other voice training guide has been too difficult to follow, so the simplistic, cracky style of your videos is much appreciated. Still having trouble with consistent resonance, but over just 2 days I've been able to pitch my voice automatically. I mean, it's not the slightest bit feminine, but I sound more like I did before puberty kicked in, and I can't tell you what a weight that was to have off my shoulders. Very much appreciated, and you've earned a new subscriber for sure.

why are these tutorials so confidence inducing?? the part about "going around" the thickened vocal chords actually amazes me, you can just DO that????? here I was thinking I'd never be able to sound like a girl cuz my chords are to thick.

got me chugging actual litres of water and making laryngeal approximants at 2am? is there even an IPA symbol for that? crazy how well that works. i think i was actually raising my larynx by myself already but this actually helped a lot because i thought i was doing it completely wrong lol, the larynx raising window breathing is actually a cheat code istg

I'd like to thank you, i've seen almost a dozen trans voice tutorials so far, as a non-native english speaker, it took until the seventh one until i understood what the larynx is and even after that only two, including yours, gave me a grasp on how the desired 'shift' is supposed to feel. Yours however didn't leave me with a case of information overload, which i'm truly grateful for ❤

I've been basically procrastinating clicking on this video for a week now. It just sat in one of my tabs waiting to be touched, and today I just had enough courage to actually watch it. And I must tell you, my heart RACED when I heard the masc voice. Like, this is actually possible?! I can actually achieve sounding this feminine if I just try hard enough?! Like, I am not too sure but how male can I be if this gives me genuine euphoria?

I swear to god all roads lead to voice training videos by vrchat players, idk know if this is a sign from god, or if youtube just knows me better than myself. Ive ended up at 5 videos of vrchat players who discuss voice training over 5 years.
@fairyprincesslucy9 ай бұрын
I think it's because vrchat offers a unique space where your voice is the only way our gender is presented to someone. So people who spend a lot of time in vrchat have incentive to voice train haha, the most talented voices I've ever heard have been in random vrchat raves haha those people always impress me
