I would also even suggest a sort of compromise on the events. The first time you see an event, you have no idea what the result of each option would do. As you encounter an event subsequent times, the choices you have made before are able to show you what they resulted in. That way it's sort of like you're learning as you go through different iterations of building out your city.
@veevoir
@veevoir 10 күн бұрын
To be honest - that is what I expected after first run in the game, when in the screens at the end of the run all those choices were shown. Assumed that means they are "unlocked", that now AI knows the potential outcome for those choices. Maybe it is not implemented yet, one can hope.

I hope the devs listen to your feedback. There's a good game in here, but they really need to take your extremely correct QoL and gameplay suggestions on board.

Some thing about not knowing outcomes: If I understand the story right, you are not playing as an all-knowing AI - yet. You are an AI running simulations to trial and error itself into becoming all-knowing.
@l0rf
@l0rf 11 күн бұрын
Good catch... but it would still be very useful to know what outcomes are predicted to occur. Could be a difficulty setting. Easiest is the precise effect on the numbers hardest is no info, with some uncertainty in between for medium.
@veevoir

It would make sense though that you should be shown potential outcome of event choice that you did in previous runs. Exactly because AI is learning.

At 18:56 you see there are some numbers that float on by but it was so easy to miss I had to skip back multiple times. Something that might solve that and be thematically good is a log in the style of a stock market report. I also agree that like AI does IRL, the choice should have a predictions of the outcomes paired with a confidence interval.

Game intented to be played in quick runs of a few minutes, splatty: "I want to slowly and methodically min-max play" XD I do agree on a few points, especially that event choices should be revealed if previously chosen as the simulation would already know the predicted outcome.

I'am semi-addicted to a barebones game stemming from the same idea, it's called Tile Cities. A side project from Ostriv developer, probably a visualization for one of his future Ostriv game mechanics. There's not much going on, but the tension is real!

This game much like Reins learned, is that numbers in games like this aren't good. I as the player really want all my numbers to be going up, and I always want to play the most optimal play possible. It's worse having some because I want to make super optimal moves that I shouldn't know. So it really needs to keep them hidden, so that I'm not trying to play the Optimal play but what feels good and fun. Because I should be kept from the boring optimal moves, but encouraged to play fun and interesting. Also yes if this is sort of a Deck Builder, then I'd like more deck building options

The result of putting up street lights is that they ALL got broken, SOMEHOW? My brother, we make those lamps STRONG. Unless they were literally shooting them out, no way, and if crime was SO DAMNED BAD that people are at the point of shooting out streetllights, that is NOT COVERED BY "the crime reports are not good". Thanks for not using AI on your video thumbnails. A lot of content makers are doing this now, and it really ruins the ability to get a sense of the game's theme or style when the first thing you see is AI generated bullshit that has nothing to do with the game. I appreciate you not using that garbage on your videos, and so I thought I should let you know so you have feedback from people who actually watch your videos and whether we like what you're doing or not.
