Awesome battle guys, however, when the first Warlord blew, it was on +3 to result on catastrophic table(red reactor), so 7+3 is 10, just double check the rules especially after a long break, this could have changed the outcome of the battle. Otherwise, keep it up! :)

As a fellow Gryphonicus player, I highly recommend taking advantage of the updated Mainstay of the Legion trait from Loyalist Legios to replace all the Warlords in an Extergimus with Reavers! Been running 3 Reavers and a Warbringer at 1,500pts lately, very enjoyable. When you're not saddled with the Warmaster, of course :)

This was actually a joy to watch and listen to while painting. The big thing that makes and breaks a battle report is the people and this genuinely sounded like two buddy’s playing a game having some fun. I more or less collect army’s to paint I havNt had an opportunity to play yet but I recently got into AT because I love mechs. I just bought: a war master, 2 warlords, 2 reavers, 4 war hounds and 6 imperial knights. So I’ll have everything I need to play if I ever choose too. And I’m painting them legio crucius to match my forge world Titan maniple!

My Solaria titans always have sort of cheeky names. My Reavers are named Measured Response, Calculated Malice, Imperial Displeasure, and Applied Sciences. So the Warmaster had to have something similar that reflected its impressive presence. Force Multiplier.

If you want further inspiration, look up a list of the names Ian M. Banks uses for the starships in his Culture books. They're all fully AI-operated (and are effectively the AI's bodies) and take themselves quite a bit less than seriously for city-sized FTL vessels that can casually erase a planetary biome if they want to.

Great to have you back! Very enjoyable report. I saw the Titan set up and thought, 'The Reaper' will be a threat to the Warmaster. Saw the set up and thought 'yep, the Warmaster needs to wary of the Reaper' and then in the Reaper went and goodnight Warmaster! Great stuff and good to see that a Warmaster is not invincible. Well done to Steve for stating focus on the objective - I'm not sure I would have been able to do the same in that situation!

Don't forget your Faction Abilities! An additional Dice for your Penumbral Reaper could have knocked that Warmaster out Turn 3! Easy thing to forget, but just mentally associate it with your Charge order. :P Awesome game, great to see the Warmaster is powerful, but manageable. Bit of naff luck getting a deployment-centric mission with such small deployment zones, but very cool game nonetheless.

@@Tabletop_Standard In The Defence of Ryza (and Loyalist Legios for Loyalist, not that anyone cares about them...) books, there is a part where your Legio gets a Once per game Ability, based on your Allegiance. TL:DR, Loyalists get the ability to change an Order for free after Damage Control (except for Emergency Reps) and Traitors can give one Titan +2/+2 Speed, and an additional Dice on their Melee weapons. Have a look on Page 83-85 of The Defence of Ryza book. I figure you probably haven't used much of those rules since the lockdown, but they're kinda cool and thematic. Definitely not OP.

Great to see you guys back in action! Just a note for the Open Engine War cards, the secondary objectives are actually open information: anything secretly nominated is secret, obviously, but they do know at least generally what you're trying to do.

​@@Tabletop_Standard I don't mind it, to be honest. I'm used to playing Infinity as my main game, where both players have at least one secret objective in most missions. Plus, like you said in the intro, it's your game! And (not that I think anyone would do this), theoretically it stops your opponent from being a git and hiding their Senioris if you've got the "Kill the Princeps" mission, or similar.

I think we'll do a mix and see if it makes any difference. We made a few mistakes. We're not match fit yet but wanted to dive right in! I think you can often tell if someone is making a plan with a unit like I smelled a rat with Steve's Warhound. I think if the Princeps was being hidden you'd soon work it out. Great set of cards though Hope they do more!

Steve rather than aim at the body you’re better leaving it to chance 33% it hits body and 33% it hits other rather than simply 33% body. I play Praesagius so reroll this at range anyway but it will really help your game to know this

Welcome back. Great bat rep! When the first warlord exploded with a magazine detonation, you only rolled 1 die for the number of hits on the knights surrounding the warhound. Magazine detonation says every model takes d3 hits, shouldn't that have been 3d3 hits against the unit of knights?

It's always hard to tell mate with AT. It's such a reactive game and I think with the missions being decided after list building who can say. Steve is a more I'd say cautious player than me as well. We'll be doing more so hopefully get a better comparison. Size of game I thought was OK. If we'd played 1750 or 1500 points without one we'd probably have a similar amount of activations. 3 Warlords are not to be sniffed at either

I am really new to the game, ive got a couple of questions if thats okay? 1: at about 39:47 you rolled D10s and the location dice, how come it was D10s? is it normally D6? 2: at about 42:39 you did the hit that hit the weapon and disabled it, do you not then resolve the rest of those hits? so when you flip the card it then says what extra damage does? usually to the body from the cards ive seen i think? or are the rest of the hits on that location just ignored? sorry for the questions, ive only played one game and watched a lot of battle reports.

Hi Dean, thanks for tuning in. @ 39:47 The Warmaster is using the Fusion trait mich like melta cannons. At short range you roll a d10 instead of a d6 with this trait. @ 42:39 all attacks that hit a weapon and disable it no matter how many there are 1 or 10 will juts disable it the rest of the hits are then discarded. The next weapon that hits the disabled weapon will do damage. Don't forget to download the latest AT FAQ from the GW website and check out my how to play AT play list, great for new players 🤟🏻

The way dice games work makes me want to stop playing.. This game was ace. I had a game yesterday where my warlord was annihilated first turn from the warp rift strat one paired apoc missiles first fire and in the following combat phase a reaver and a warbringer killed it. 3 activations and a strat.

Sky's the limit really bud. You could easily do one of each titan and infact you'd need more than one of each type to play games as you'll need to put them into maniples (teams of 3 to 5 Titans)

Um yes and no. Its always been quite a complex game I guess. We try to be as clear as possible in our games which won't always come across I guess. I mean when you play you can use as much or as little of the rules/special rules as you like. I forget a lot to be fair when I play
