I once saw a video where someone took slow motion videos of different species of parrots taking off and landing and it was so amazing to watch. It was particularly cool to see how the difference in tail lengths and overall builds of the birds changed how they flew and especially how they would land.

Now I’m wondering if they have any land around the facility like a garden, if so (depending on how big it is) they could put in a little pond or something so that they could bring like their anaconda and there false water cobras outside, and so that if they put like screen over the top of it Cheyenne could go out and get some exercise. Edit: Cheyenne might actually chew through the screen which wouldn’t be good.

i'm not a bird owner or anything, but if you do have one, please check before you attempt to lift yours by the beak yea? i have a sneaking suspicion that most birds CANNOT be lifted by the beak like cheyenne can!
@civvignikram4905
@civvignikram4905 3 жыл бұрын
@@alveolate It depends on the temperament of the bird, but at least all parrots have evolved to hold their entire weight with their beak, because they climb with it, so it won't hurt them. Most of them would probably prefer to be allowed to step up rather than lifted like that, Cheyenne is an extremely tame bird who is just incredibly comfortable around her people.

I don't think they'd get a ton of footage like they did with Rex. Alligators aren't too social, so it was fine that they left her alone for like two days. Birds are super social, like little toddlers, and need pretty much constant attention. I bet she's hanging out with them constantly when they're not recording videos - heck, even when they're recording, she's sometimes there!

I'd just like to say: I run my own animation studio, I came upon your channel to look for reptile patterns for some of our character designs, and this video ended up with a really extra use: not only can me and the animators study bird flight from your slow motion, but the silver lining of Cheyenne plucking herself is, we can see how her muscles work IN flight, which is actually really hard to see as you can imagine! Surprisingly useful video, also great to see her getting some exercise :3

The important thing is being able to recognize what kinds of enrichment upset them. It's still good to get them outside their comfort zone from time to time with new experiences, but also be prepared to make the new thing end quickly if they aren't enjoying it. Like telling a kid "take one bite of x-food and if you don't like it, then you don't have to eat it." Give them the chance to try it and then if not, welp, nbd.

I have dermatillomania and always relate to birds that have plucking issues too. I had a dog that would chew the fur off her forearms when she was stressed, then when she had pulled out all the hair, she would pick at the skin with her teeth. I worked with her on it and working with her helped her to stop, but also helped me a lot too. I didn’t have picking or scratching issues hardly at all while working with her and training her. It is was kind of cool that we helped each other with basically the same psychological issue.

And their both males (kept in different rooms) and I would like to get the spayed (I know that's the word for female rabbits or other animals to get spayed but it's like one in the morning and I really don't want to do all that) but we don't have any rabbit vets around us (Unless you want to drive like 10 hours to the bigger cities and keep the rabbits in the car with all their stinky pee and stuff along with water always spilling and food getting everywhere).
