An Alabama town honors the boll weevil

A century ago, cotton farmers in Enterprise, Ala., faced disaster when their crops were wiped out by an invasive species, the boll weevil. Rather than accept defeat, the farmers switched to growing peanuts, and the town was saved. Correspondent Conor Knighton looks at how, today, Enterprise honors the insect pest that not only failed to destroy the town, but allowed it to come back stronger.

Weevils are hard to get rid of

Almost 5 min on the Boll Weevil and only drawings, extremely old footage and fake Boll Weevils everywhere...... And not one shot or footage of a real live Boll Weevil, which begs the question are they extinct or was this report made by a bug-phobic reporter. A more important question is, why am I the only one noticing. 🤨

Sadly you don't know Alabama. Birmingham is home to the largest cast iron statue in the world. Huntsville has THE Saturn V rocket which took Neil Armstrong to the moon on display in the Space and Rocket Center. You can relax on some of the world's most beautiful beaches in Gulf Shores and Orange Beach. Montogermy and Birmingham have several Civil Rights sites of interest. Thousand of miles of water can be explored on the lakes of Alabama. And most of all if you ever visit you will be welcomed by some of the most friendly and hospital people you could ever hope to run into.
