Given his reach and influence, not being "devastated" if he's wrong is not really addressing the potential harm, maybe even devastation, to those who believed him, if he's wrong. It's really about being accountable for the ideas you put out there to make money.

@sdg7799Ай бұрын
I don't think anybody should ever read something and just fully put their belief in the words written. I think that's his point. If something he said scratches an inch in your brain to think, then his job is done. He doesn't write manuals on how to live and think. How many philosophers are out there who have claimed things that today we see as totally false, yet maybe one of their statements seemed really accurate and now we use that one statement as a foundation of some scientific beliefs we hold (despite other errors)? Countless! In fact, probably every theorist, philosopher, mathematician, etc out there. If you want to believe in something, find a religion, but a man's words on topics and ideas that he finds fascinating are not responsible for your own lack of creative processing.

I think he may have something to say, but people give too much credit and weight to his conclusions. And just because he has appeal to his many fans and has sold many books does it mean that he's correct. It does mean that he's good at what he does, and that's the crux. There are many people in the world who are good at what they do, but it doesn't mean what they do or say has merit. Look at Donald Trump.
