I like using EZ Drummer for this kind of practicing. Super easy, lots of beats/styles available, sounds great, I can change the tempo, etc. It doesn't sound as good as when you do it though 😅 That intro was great - I'll be borrowing a few thing from that!

Not sure if someone already got this out there, but the reason your bass track is off is latency-the time it takes to process the signal. There’s a definitely a way to set that in your software so that when you record, it’s tracking in time.

I've been having a good time learning by overlaying riffs and rhythms using my looping pedal. It has a decent amount of drum beats built in. It's a great way practice too, and seeing as I'm an old (66) luddite/technopeasant, it still wasn't too tricky to figure out. Thx for all the inspirational videos you put out GT. ATB

I've been using Toontrack software to create similar backing tracks for learning solos. The drum tracks provide a feel that a metronome just can't. If you set em up in your DAW, It's easy to slow them down when you need to. Great video brother.

Great advice Mr GT, I use my little Boss looper with drums as a fancy metronome. It has really helped. In particular phrasing and anticipating where to come in and out (though it would make you cringe I am sure). When i watch the complete fluidity with which you play, its obvious the fretboard is more the second nature. Something to aspire to, but not sure there are enough years to get there. But the inspiration is always pushing me on. Many thanks.

Is that the one with all the nuts and bolts shaped into musicians that swing back and forth? I love that one. Ambient Backing Tracks is awesome as well for some great drone sounds. On your computer, you can start up a rhythm track then open up another page and play one of these drones. Solos for days and in key after key. I practice Guthrie's triads and arpeggios that way a lot. Im a gettin there and lovin it.

Tom Bailey Music as well. Those are short song backing tracks and it keep your ear open for when the chords change. This stuff is working for me. I wanted to add that Guthrie's Artistworks course shows how to practice the Hybrid Picking stuff. It's very basic and he shows how to get the Mark Knopfler sounds, or at least how to begin. The rest is up to us.
