As a proud English Woman I found your praise for my beautiful home such a treat and it reminded me once again that I have such a rich history that in everyday life, I often forget 😉 As an avid crocheter myself I'm very proud of our many yarn shops up and down the British Isles. If you ever get the chance to visit us again, stop off in Scotland and Wales as you'll find some fantastic yarn shops there in their abundance.

I sometimes wish I could get out of England, but your commentary on York and Silverstone reminds me that there is a lot of history and beauty to be admired in our small island country. They have a Beatrix Potter display in a small town called Long Melford, Suffolk, as well, she often used to stay there when she lived and apparently wrote some of her books there basing the characters on animals seen at Melford Hall. She was a cousin to the owner at the time, it is now maintained by the National Trust and if you enjoy her works well worth visiting. (Long Melford is also the village where a number of different television shows have been filmed/set, including Lovejoy which I believe was screened in the US).

This visit home, 3 months ago, I also visited Loop and fell in love with it, sadly my knees aren’t great and the thought of going upstairs defeated me But I wish I had now! It was great to see the Harry Styles cardigan because my 23 year old niece taught herself to knit creating that for herself. Its nice to see that knit shops are finally accepting of crocheters. It was not always the case. I got snubbed a couple of times in yarn stores when they found out i crochet, the store worker walked away, and I got no further help. It's good to see that has changed.
@EliseRoseCrochet2 жыл бұрын

Dear Chronic Stitcher. They needn't be so snobbish because crochet especially Irish and Vential crochet produces a,delicate Victorian fabric not possible with knitting. In fact knitting to me might be therapeutic but is boring and repetitious and for me I end up not even wanting to finish the project. I always use yarn which looks like thread. As a rule, for my work yarn is too bulky to produce lace

Your video was absolutely delightful! Beautiful scenery, and the places you visited were beautiful. I was happy to see the inside of Westminster Cathedral. And the fact that you went to Mass there astounded me. You have a lovely family and I am sure you will have these wonderful memories for the rest of your life. I still remember when I went to England with my husband, way back in 1986! We were young then. I never forget my past journeys/trips around Europe. You won't either.

As a Brit who lives in the Cotswolds (in Oxfordshire) I was thrilled when you said York was your favourite part of England. It’s actually my home city and I’m planning to move back there, and I would certainly agree with your assessment. Glad you enjoyed your trip to our lovely country.

@@EliseRoseCrochet Yes, I know what you mean! York is so steeped in history and all the more beautiful for it. If you visit the UK again, you should checkout Bath, I think you would like that too. Ditto where I currently live (Cotswolds) - very old, scenic and several places have been used as film and TV locations. Time to book another trip!

This is my dream vacation. I’m a huge Anglophile and all the great books, stories, and nursery rhymes I grew up with are all from England. It’s like going to the mother land and seeing where all the culture, language, and history that we share comes from. I so definitely want to go one day. I love that you visited the countryside. I’m DEFINITELY going to do that. I live in rural TN and it looks like the Shire out here imo. I can’t imagine how beautiful it is to be in England and to see the actual countryside. 😍
