I actually watched this movie as a little kid before the Don Bluth original and even though this probably wouldn't hold up for me now as an adult, I have to say the animation looks as good as I remember it being! Zoltan Z: Yeah, I have, but regardless of whether I have worked or not and who your CEO, manager, boss or whatever you prefer to call him or her. Taking responsibility and adressing your companys screw ups direcrly is usually a pretty good idea, instead of "Oh uhm... sorry you all feel that way and here's a chatlog, it doesn't prove shit, but you're all lying, not us. Nothing ever happened, sucks to be you. Bye." I mean really Michaud, that's the limit of you being a responsible CEO?
@mellowhero35206 жыл бұрын
Wedge Antilles At this point, Michaud probably has Doug under NDA. Regardless of what is or isn't true, I'm pretty sure that the reason we haven't anything more is because it's all being handled by lawyers, and Doug for legal reasons can't comment further for contractual reasons that could land him with fines in the hundreds of thousands in punitive damages at least. Nevermind not knowing the conditions for his exit from CA. As it stands, this is likely to go quiet for a few months, and then surface as a 3 minute segmwnt on the Philip DeFranco show. It's not an ideal situation, but this kind of corporate issue, and it is a corporate issue, is seldom if ever resolved in the public eye.

DIsgruntled employees posted a bunch of petty stuff that happened 5 years ago when Channel Awesome actually employed them and helped them get started on KZbin. Most of the complaints are petty like no food or drink there, when a job doesn't have to provide food and drink for you, you bring your own. Others are like how NC gets the most time slots, but that makes sense because he is the mascot and brings in the most views/money. People said NC would direct them in their movies and stuff and they didn't like that NC would tell them to do it his way, even though it was his movie and if it's his movie you should listen to him. It's why actors listen to their directors whether they like it or not. If they were so unhappy, they didn't have to stay and keep doing stuff. As for the sexual assault claims, those are the only real ones that aren't petty, but at the same time, if you were actually sexually assaulted you wouldn't post it in a google doc for retaliation, you would go to the police to get justice. And people say that 'oh they're just afraid to go to the police because that's how some victims of sexual assault are, they're embarrassed and feel guilty' but if you're willing to sign your name on a document and call out your attacker, there is no reason you can't go to the police. Unless you have no proof and have no leg to stand on in a courtroom when it comes time to give testimony. You could say it's a long expensive process to do that so that's why they just did a google doc, but that's for lawyers. If you wanted to sue them, sure, yeah, that'd be long and expensive, but if they committed an actual crime, the police have to investigate. That's their job. you don't pay the police to investigate a crime, so there's no reason to not go to the police, unless it's just accusations. From what I know, there's no real proof, just allegations, and everyone is mad at NC for either knowing about it and not doing anything, or for not apologizing for it. But he's not the head of CA so there's no reason to be blaming him. Even in the google doc they said he was mostly nice so he's not the problem, but they're blaming him anyway because he's the mascot. They say he could talk to Mike and get it fixed, but at the same time, NC is just an employee like everyone else, so he probably didn't have as much as say as people think. And I don't think Doug would just sit by and not do anything if he saw someone getting abused, sexually or otherwise. He might have known about financial issues or management issues or something, but might not have known it was so serious. People in companies fight and argue all the time, and make all sorts of claims when they're mad or get fired or leave, so he might not have known to look too closely. Also, it's not his job to fix things, because he's just an employee like the others. That's like me pointing the blame at my coworker for not yelling at the boss. Why would they risk getting fired when they're not the ones at fault? If it was such a big deal, then YOU should have said something to higher ups or police when it happened because that's your responsibility, not his. Or you could have just left if you were that unhappy instead of staying and hating it more and more to the point the only revenge you can get is to spark a mob mentality by posting a google doc saying how awful everyone there is. And if that's the case, again, NC isn't the owner of CA. He's just a mascot and Mike owns the NC character so his hands are kind of tied. Also, the document says Rob and Doug were mostly nice so there's no real reason to be hating on them when it's management that's the issue. Also, it was five years ago. You can make all the claims and allegations you want, but at the end of the day, if you were sexually assaulted, there's no real way to prove it or disprove it because any evidence there was is long gone now, unless you were hurt to the point you went to the hospital and they have records of it that could be used in the investigation. You wouldn't just wait five years and post a google doc of all things to tell everyone how awful you had it when you've literally not said a thing about it in five years. You know how much you forget in five years? That's probably why the complaints are so petty, because they forgot what they hated so much and just generalized it. Except that assault, you probably wouldn't forget anything about that, but at the same time, it was years ago and there's not a whole lot anyone can do because you didn't report it when it happened, when there was still evidence to be used. So you're best bet is going to the police. They can look up stuff, find witnesses or whatever, if there are any, and try to give you justice. Otherwise you're just accusing people without proof and it makes you look back because it just seems petty. If the allegations are true, then you should go through the proper channels to fix it and get justice. But they just want retaliation so they've sparked a fight hoping to kill CA with mob mentality because people are fickle as fuck. But the views haven't gone down and things seem to be holding strong. yeah, people have left the channel for reasons we don't know (you can't say it's because the controversy is true, because if it was and you're going to harp on NC for not doing anything about, the others are just as guilty because I'm sure they were around just as much as NC) but NC is the mascot and has been the biggest money maker anyway so for CA it might not be that big of a deal, moneywise. There. That's what's going on. You can leave or stay, but you can't have it both ways. Don't just linger around to write hateful comments because you've become suddenly self-righteous thinking you're right when nothing has been proved. Either stay because you enjoy the content or leave because you were never a true fan in the first place. But you can't have it both ways.

EmerickSin dude, most of your explanation was just a knee jerk defense. A google doc was made when a twitter follower asked an ex producer about ca. It spiraled down and they decided to post the doc. Others shared their similar stories. The accusations were from most, bad business decisions. Not being paid when promised. Using someone’s artwork to make money. People getting injured during filming due to lack of experience and care. Sexual harassment from one of the owners until he was fired for an unrelated reason. Really it’s best to read the doc. You’re getting the info from third party sources here man.

I look at it the same way I look at a lot of stuff Hollyweird does. Don't pay attention to it. My personal involvement in the lives of people who entertain me stops at the entertainment. If an injustice happened, it's up to those wronged to seek out justice through the proper channels. They don't need strangers that have zero to do with them personally being mixed up with it. If something is not affecting your life why bother with it personally? So I can change something I love into something I hate? Why would I do that? The more you learn about those who entertain you the more likely you are for it to affect/diminish the way they're able to provide it. Just don't bother with the Doc and keep doing what you normally do.

I'm trying really hard to avoid it, getting so sick of the 5000 videos in my KZbin feed made by people that hope to earn views on something they don't know shit about.

Something about the line “Hey I’m almost near the end I’m not working long on a joke when freedom is around the corner.” Followed by Doug commenting on the ironic meaning behind Jimmy Stewart’s final line in his last role. God it’s like this was destined to be NC’s last review. Eerie shit

Guys, Doug may or may not have quit already. There is such a thing as pre-recorded videos, wise up already ya'll. Channel Awesome still probably has the rights to these videos, as well as the Nostalgia Critic persona.

While I can see the flaws with this movie now, you can't knock John Cleese's performance. He really gives it his all.

Legit though, I loved this movie...I didn't even know the first one until recently.

The first one was pretty good but I love the more light hearted comedic take this one goes with and it's got a lot of memorable moments. The Cowboy theme doesn't hurt, either, and of course it has the memorably beautiful Dreams To Dream.

I never knew about the original growing up, I just had this movie. It's okay, but not as good as the first film. At least it didn't become a trilogy.

Coreection, 2 films after this one and an animated series...all of which look preeeeeeeetty bad. At least this movie still has some great animation
@jackferring67906 жыл бұрын
Here's how bad it was; the next movie, (which really isn't much better or holds any more connection to the themes of the original) explicitly makes this movie out to be a dream Fievel had
@supermariof05215 жыл бұрын
To be honest, "Treasure of Manhattan Island" is a HUGE improvement from "Fievel Goes West". For one thing it actually felt like a genuine follow up to the original in terms of art style, setting, tone, and spirit.

Wow, really?? But the whole spin off TV series was set in this continuity too!

I don't care about the accusations, at all. I just want to watch some silly videos and laugh. What's so hard about this? Why can't people compartmentalize anymore?
