I got this Arrow Blu Special edition a couple years ago when it came out. The transfer is amazing, the boxed set gorgeous, the features tremendous. I don't feel a great need to upgrade to four and double dip, though I do believe this is one of the best horror movies ever.

John Landis did oversee this 4K transfer in 2018 the 2K disc is from the same source, the image on the 4K is slightly darker in some scenes which Landis wanted on the 4K to get closer to his original intention for this movie.

ken, there was a 1997 sequel to this movie, an american werewolf in paris , in which hollywood pictures distributed and while tom everett scott has a similar set of events to the ones by david and jack in this film the positive to the sequel is seeing julie delpy in the sequel, and this is the same actress whos in the 1993 three musketeers as constance , the three colors movies, as well as the series of before movies with ethan hawke there are probably moments in this film that are on the level of animal house where you could get laughs way more than shock value

This release is fucking awesome. Got into the game late so getting this LE was so exciting. The 4k image on this makes you feel so isolated in the moors and it’s terrifying. Amazing transfer. Terrific sound

Burke & Hare with Simon Pegg and Andy Serkis which is more of a comedy but with some horror elements and featuring cameos from actors who appeared in An American Werewolf In London such as David Schofield and Jenny Agutter, along with other celebrity cameos like Michael Winner and Christopher Lee. The Twilight Zone segment he directed is also the most controversial episode in that movie as that was the one where Vic Morrow and two Vietnamese child actors who were working illegally at the time were killed by a helicopter during filming a scene and Landis was charged with manslaughter but was later acquitted in court.

Nice video! I'm Alan from Dublin Ireland. Have loved this film 🎥 for many years. Bizarrely I only had it on DVD , never upgraded to blu ray. So this was a must have for me. I agree its an unbelievable transformation. Never been topped. The special features are excellent! Good vlog, American werewolf is a great film. I got the Blu-ray special edition a year or so ago (as well as video, dvd and laser disc). I decided to double dip and get 4K - glad that I did - will keep Blu-ray too.

Fun tidbit: at the end of the credits there’s a”special note” that says something along the lines of “congratulations to prince Charles and princess diana, the newlyweds, we love u”...something like that. I just found that so interesting that the film makers loved the royalty so much they had to put an acknowledgement of the wedding at the end of their movie. Maybe Charles and Diana were at the London premier? Just kinda cool.

What a Fantastic review you did. I got it on Friday and watched it on Saturday. And not seen it for years. But its one of my favourite films and in 4k its brilliant. And I've only got 5.1 Surround sound as well like you. Also watched Thing from 1982 but that was on Blu ray xx

An excellent and honest review. It's fortunate Arrow does such good work with the 4K transfers because otherwise the reissue of the same package and extra features does look like a money grab. One note: Your comment about Jenny Agutter makes me think you have yet to watch Logan's Run. 😀

John Landis directed a vampire movie titled: Innocent Blood in 1992. It was basically a horror comedy as well. And I think you claimed Arrow's is the first 4K UHD, but I'm pretty sure Turbine put it out before on 4K UHD.

For this movie, I'm gonna wait until I see screenshots of this Arrow 4K transfer, because I want to see how it directly compares with the transfer on the 4K edition that was released a couple years ago in Germany by Turbine Medien. I want to buy the BEST version of this movie, so I want to be able to see for myself and decide which of the two 4K editions I think looks better.

@@Goreminator I took a quick look at his video about American Werewolf in London 4K and no it looks like 1: He only shows screenshots comparing this Arrow 4K to the previous Arrow Blu Ray, NOT the Turbine 4K, and 2: The screenshots are not even full screen, they are small so you can't even see the full detail to compare them. So those are definitely NOT the screenshot comparisons I was looking for. I will still watch the video and hear what he has to SAY about it though (because he does seem to talk about the Turbine 4K transfer) but I do also want to compare actual screenshots of the two 4K transfers for myself.

I seem to see a hell of a lot of similar comments by other people who had a similar experience......watching American Werewolf in London when they're far FAR to young to be watching it.....and then being traumatised by it for the rest of their lives. 😂 Including me.....I was 8 years old when I was inexplicably allowed to watch it by my mother! 😮 I only got to the part where the camera scene in a hospital bed in the woods.....camera focuses on his face.....and then ARRRGGGHHH. I would lie frozen in my bed for weeks after 😂

John Landis did another horror film called Twilight Zone: The Movie, which was notorious for the actual on-set decapitations of the lead actor and two child actors. Many people believe that Landis, who was charged with manslaughter, should have done prison time for his negligence . So sad.

So since you have the blu-ray edition are the two boxsets actually identical? If, so I’m going to buy the standard 4K when it comes out so I can sell just the standard blu-ray but keep the case & goodies; I love the booklet and poster but only want the 4K case & disc. Might also be the same situation for Candyman so I can do the same saving a few buck. Saves me enough to buy the other arrow editions they are releasing 😂

Never seen it but my favorite werewolf or wolf movie is Teen Wolf, Top 40 movie for me. Be interesting to see a great horror werewolf movie. Definitely will be picking up this edition at some point in the coming months.

I’ve been disappointed with the last few arrow titles I’ve been watching, the aviators wife from Eric rohmer was ok but a one and done movie, absolutely hated the holy mountain from jordorosky and couldn’t get into rec, I’ve much more luck with my criterion blind buys

How bad is the grain? Reading reviews that it's horrible, many people finding it unwatchable.

Grain level is on the higher side, but it's balanced well and doesn't take away from the incredible clarity and richness and depth with the HDR. A Beautiful transfer in my opinion.
