If we’re going to talk about songs on the radio that incorporated “Canon in D,” it’d be criminal not to mention “I’ll C U When U Get There” by Coolio!

Love this so much! Another song that pretty much incorporated Canon in D is "Ladies and gentlemen we're floating in space" by Spiritualized

I really love these analysis videos! Good work! It's a shame classical music has a limited audience because you definitely deserve more views and subscribers. I look forward to seeing what you analyze next!

Thanks! I feel the way about Classical music that I do about Classical literature - they take a bit more work to get through, but the work is rewarded many times over.

Fell in love with this song after hearing Brian Eno's reinterpretations of it on Discreet Music. I've listened to it so much but never really put much thought to what was going on. Such an interesting video!

I love these videos, I'm still new to (I would have said classical music not too long ago lol ) baroque music? and it's slowly becoming one of my favourite genres of music.

Nice! Yeah I always have to try not to be "that person" when people refer to Classical music as a blanket term for all music pre-1900. "That person" who corrects others and says, "actually, that's the Romantic era", or whatever it is. So it makes me happy when people actually make the distinction of Baroque, Classical, etc. Nerdy high five!

This analysis helped a lot. I know next to nothing about classical or baroque music. I am attempting to make a recording of this with my own twist but I have a question. Is there one actual precise official melody pattern for this tune or is it more of an improve piece depending on the arrangement. I am more of an improve player of guitar and mandolin, dobro and suce and wondering,"is it still Cannon In D, when playing close but not exact melody lines over the base of the chord progression D-A-Bm-F#m-G-D-G-A ?"fyi ON MY VERSON, I PLAN TO USE Classical guitar, steel string guitar, some 12 string guitar in spots, resonator guitar, all mostly for variations on the chord base and mandolin and classical guitar on melody parts. That ought make Pachelbel spin in his grtave.

I heard somewhere that the cello portion only has like 4 notes. I think I would go crazy halfway in the song if all I did was play the same 4 notes. Although to be fair, at least I wouldn't make many mistakes.
@andrewbuchan2232
@andrewbuchan2232 4 жыл бұрын
It’s 2 measures multiplied by 4 beats per measure. The pitch A gets repeated once, so there are only seven unique pitches in the cello part. The easiest answer is the cello part for the entire piece is two measures long.

I'm doing score study right now of the choral version of Canon in D and this really helped me a lot. However, I'm just curious as to who wrote the first piano version of Canon in D (which is the basis of the choral version that I am studying right now).

Do you compose music by any chance? I haven't watched all your videos and maybe you mentioned it so there's my confession for the day
@PianotvNet
@PianotvNet 8 жыл бұрын
Ha ha! Yeah, I compose in a couple different ways. 1, writing/arranging songs for teaching, mainly out of function, like if I want to illustrate a concept but can't find the right song for it. 2, writing music for a band, purely for fun (and in that case, I mainly write lyrics and vocals, with less of a keyboard emphasis). There you go!

+pianoTV I need your opinion about my compositions. Most of them are string quartets and piano works but if they sound neo classical, do they still have a place in the modern world?
@PianotvNet
@PianotvNet 8 жыл бұрын
The Angst Of Composing Of course! Music is so diverse now, there's something for everyone. I'm sure there are people out there who would enjoy modern (but Classical-ish) string quartets.

My 9 years old daughter dancing with canon in D. Maybe this master piece design for classical dance. I don't know how to play musical instruments . Just curious what was the composer emotions when they wrote the piece. Thank you for sharing. Hi from Malaysia.

Awful video editing, Are you afraid of more than a millisecond of silence between sentences? I would have thought a musician would be more sensitive to phrasing and not pursue the TV infomercial style that uses a barrage of nonstop commentary.

I love the C in the progression over the F#minor. Obviously cool how that b5 over F# leads you to the GMaj. Thanks for sharing this info. I am working on this song for a wedding on guitar. I see a bit of artistic license taking place in my future since I'm not a classical player. :)

I'm doing a Music Composition course and this is the first 'listening assignment' on it. The rest of listening assignments chronical famous composers up to Edvard Grieg. I didn't realise how old this piece of music was, amazing! Thanks for the cool insights on Pachelbel.
