So this video seems more controversial than I thought it would be. As a bit of a quick update, the goose is still living in the house. I could get her out, but because she has a good nest going right now, I don't want to break it up. Toby is content to sleep in the goose house. He seems to like it better. Believe me, if I thought Toby was not happy with the situation, I would chase the goose out, but that doesn't seem to be the case. So it seems like a win-win to me and we'll hopefully get some goslings in about a month. I know that not everyone agrees with that approach. I also believe that everyone who watches our videos is entitled to an opinion. But that said, I always have to do what I think is best for the farm. Which is sometimes not the popular thing.

I’m not a doctor, so this isn’t medical advice. You might be interested looking up research on Frankincense (Boswellia Serrata) and various types of cancer. Some of them even mention doses. You can purchase it in bulk on Amazon for cheap cheap, or get capsules. It tastes like perfume and has to be mixed with oil if you buy the powder. I started getting the capsules because I dreaded taking the oil mixture and the flavor. It isn’t bad, but is like kissing someone on the cheek who just put on aftershave. A quick rinse of the mouth with water takes the taste away rapidly, but I decided to make my life easier. I take it daily as an anti inflammatory instead of ibuprofen which causes heart damage. Research is showing it is likely good for many ailments, including arthritis, COPD, cancer of various types, and more...I discovered it because it is already being included in OTC joint pain treatment. It was included in the oldest medicinal text known...3000 years old! Some rare people get elevated heart rate, but I haven’t experienced that. Other rare people had a few days of diarrhea or flatulence, and it may have been from killing off some bad gut things...it is also useful for ulcers caused by bacterial infection in the gut. Enjoy your days and don’t be scared. The other side of biological life is real and very very beautiful. ✨💖✨

If you've got unruly geese, a handy tip is to grab them just behind the head. Sure, it doesn't really prevent them from doing anything, but it does make it awkward for them to whack you or nip you, meaning you can have an easier time dragging them out of places they shouldn't be.
@alliechampagne14043 жыл бұрын
Absolutely! Gotta know how to handle them without being timid about it. Yeah, goose bites suck, but they're not THAT bad. A gentle yet purposeful grasp behind the head, then scoop Their behinds with the other hand just to move them is fine, and sometimes has to be done.
@wendyweaver87493 жыл бұрын
@@alliechampagne1404 - And how do you scoop up a goose when you are on your hands and knees? Morgan has done such scooping when the geese were in the barn and Morgan was standing above them.

Honestly, I just pick my geese up. Their bites don't hurt, especially when you are wearing thicker clothes. They are just a bit indignant when you do that.

You must have a very high pain tolerance, or gentle geese. I would literally want a jaguar or tiger before I'd want a goose. Big cats are far more trainable. Don't worry! I have no plans on getting either, yet worked with both in the past.

@@CarolReidCA I have a few very nice geese, but the rest are jerks. I have gotten a bruise or two, but their beaks are not meant to eat flesh, so it's like a big pinch.

I remember having geese as a kid. I'd grab them just under the chin around the neck to control the head and support the body under my arm. No goose bites! Handle the head like a poisonous snake.

Could just use a rake to pull the straw out and even gently nudge the goose out with the straw at the same time. But first, set up a nesting box elsewhere. Maybe in that corner of the barn just build a small covered box with straw with the entrance facing away from the main door. broody chickens and ducks like total PRIVACY and quiet when they're sitting so I assume geese do too. I don't think they're just randomly picking spots - they're searching for privacy. Then put up a DO NOT DISTURB sign :)

Charlotte Majewski - Have you not watched the videos describing Toby's breed and how they have lived for centuries? Have you not seen the videos where Morgan extracts armfuls of fur as spring morphs into summer? Have you not watched all of the Toby videos since he came to Gold Shaw Farm? Toby has consistently rejected or rarely used the shelters Morgan has made or remodeled for him. He is out and about most of the night (see the night camera footage) guarding the farm and with the geese free 24/7, the night job is even more important. Toby is not a pet - Toby is a working dog who was bred to live outdoors all winter in the hills and mountains with the herds being protected. Toby has more creature comforts - even without counting his doghouse - than his working brethren in North America and Europe.

@@wendyweaver8749 you’ve copied and pasted this comment everywhere. Regardless of the breed and temperament, dogs like humans, have a sense of territory and ownership of what they call theirs. Some dogs are very vocal and violent about it, others like Toby are very chill and relaxed. However as a farm dog who’s job is to protect the geese and birds it’s vital that the geese know that Toby is as he should be, at the top of the pecking order and need to learn that Toby’s space is off limits. It’s an unhealthy relationship between the two if the creatures Toby protects do not respect him and his boundaries, especially if this behavior continues they will assume that Toby is below them and might start pecking at him randomly to show dominance and try to fight him, which would be bad. While you’re right that Toby does not use many of the shelters, it is clear in this video Toby is not too happy about the goose stealing his space. Morgan needs to build more nesting areas and remove the geese from the areas like Toby’s hut so they learn that they should use the nesting areas.

Toby started no dedicated house, and does way to good of a job to be out of a house already for a month. This is one of your moments where you're gonna need to do some of your "i goofed lets fix it learning" and do whats best for TobyDog. Goose needs to be relocated. Especially after teaching him he isn't allowed to assert himself over the geese. Tobydog will retire to your home as a pet, goose will retire as a meal on the table.
