The body of Poe's writings speak for themselves, the sheer amount of work is astounding & brilliant. It should be seen as a testament to the world of how much can be achieved if you put that bloody mobile phone down & actually use your mind to create something worthwhile, instead of typing a zillion posts & emails. Poe's 40 years on this Earth produced more brilliant writings than most people who live into their 80's today. RIP Great Sir.

I loved the biography of Poe by Kenneth Silverman called Edgar A. Poe: Mournful and Never-ending Remembrance. This simple animation brings it to mind. Poe is an American original whose writing has affected so many readers and writers. His stories contain riches that are felt only as tremors in a first or second reading.

I have a book called The Selected Works of Edgar Allan Poe (by HarperCollins' Collins Classics). The Raven is my favourite one and Edgar Allan Poe is one of my favourite writers. His stories are kinda very creepy but interesting. I'd better not to read any of Poe's stories before bedtime otherwise they may give me some nightmares. Edgar Allan Poe's stories might be perfect for Halloween 🦇 🎃 👻. Anyway greetings from Ireland 🇮🇪 and the video is very interesting.

Yeah, as a few other’s have pointed out, there are a few mistakes here: Poe’s father did abandon his wife and children before he died. How could Poe have been influenced by Dickens during his education? Poe was his senior by three years. Poe wasn’t found dead. He was found “in great distress” and died in a hospital. It’s likely he was a victim of election fraud; it was not an uncommon practice for hired men to force others to drink and change clothes in order to get the victim to vote more than once for a specific candidate. If you’re going to do a bio (no matter how short) on Poe, you’d better get this stuff right. People spend their academic careers researching and understanding the lives of prominent authors. 🙄
