Tragic but fascinating at the same time. One point of contention is that Poe did, or did not , invent science fiction. Back then it was called speculative fiction and Poe certainly had no science background. But he did have a wild imagination.

BTW, Mary Shelley published FRANKENSTEIN in 1818, which predates Poe and other "fathers" of sci-fi and dark lit.
