An Agraharam is the name given to the Brahmin quarter of a village inhabited by Brahmins.This documentary will give you the details of their life style and architecture which is used to build the house.This houses can stand for more than 400 years.

We ourselves can take initiatives to preserve Agraharams instead of relying on UNESCO ...I'm ready to contribute as much as I can - I was born n brought up in an agraharam 😊together we, brahmins, can do....I don't know if there was such lifestyle in northern part...let ourModiji know abt it....I feel he's our savier🙏🏻😊

Watching this, living in a foreign country makes me want to return home and practise the Vedas.

the courtyard is for performing daily yajnas, agnihotram, aupasanam etc. big halls and outside verandah is for teacher student to sit together chant vedas learn shastras. vedic samskaras demand gathering of vaidika scholars so space is required as well as food to feed them, milk and ghee etc cow breeding required mainly for homams . brahmana houses being in center of village would spread vedic sounds and homa smoke all around and keep village healthy. verandah is also for aththi satkara, for passers-by , pilgrims,and wandering sadhus to stay overnight without disturbing members of the house. Storing lot of grains is not just for family, it is also for brahmachari students who were fed, athithies, for annadanam during various vaidika karma, brahmana bhojanam etc. it is the vibrations of those past vaidika karmas, that make these houses feel good even today, as the stones retain the vibrations for long time

NRI and Indian Brahmins can buy residential plots together and construct Agraharam style houses along with a temple. I was brought up in Brahmin street in Velachery. Living with our community is not caste discrimination. During festivals like Diwali pongal dussehra whole street will celebrate together.

Nice documentary...but these houses and this tradition is going to die because our families are not expanding because people are having less children and this less children are moving to to cities and so only solution is having more children so that atleast 1 or 2 children are continuing this legacy.
