I’m an athletics girly, so some of the things you missed there: - Julien Alfred winning Saint Lucia’s first medal EVER in the women’s 100m! - Letsile Tebogo winning the 200m (beating Noah Lyles!), Botswana’s first gold medal and dedicating it to his mum who passed way in May - Cole Hocker running up the inside to win the 1,500m gold because Ingebritsen was too focused on beating Kerr and then didn’t even place (this one hurt because I was routing for Kerr, but it was such a good finish!) - Keely Hodgkinson being the first GBR woman to win the 800m since 2004! Prob not that interesting for most countries, but it felt like the whole of the UK was routing for her - Sivan Hassan sprint finish at the marathon to get a gold medal (seriously, who does a sprint finish at a marathon?!)

You forgot the gymnastics diplomatic incident in the men's highbar final. A Chinese and a Taiwanese (who have to be called "Chinese Taipei: and use a stupid flag that's not the Taiwanese one) gymnast tied for Bronze and for the medal ceremony they decided to not hang the medals next to each other but one on top of the other. They put the Chinese flag on top and let's just say it didn't go over well...

A few things missed: -A girl originally from France moved to her parents' home country, Algeria, became a citizen, and represented Algeria for gymnastics. She took the gold medal for uneven bars winning Algeria's first ever gymnastics metal. Kaylia Nemour. -the taiwan upset against china in "table tennis" that has resulted in an uproar about taiwan being a country vs being a provence as sore losers r trying to claim. N how chinese officials went around the stadium taking anything cheering for taiwan, away from the audience. -Imane Khelif's controversy. the absolutely stupid and baseless gender controversy of the women's boxing events. Transphobes once again mislabeling a cis woman as a trans woman. Even stupider, the woman's from a country where that shit's illegal. Beyond baseless. A chiseled woman never means they're trans. And she is beautiful. -the fact that the bronze metals are degrading rapidly compared to previous years and all metals apparently include a chunk of the eiffel tower at their center. -the US men's soccer team scored their first goal in 24 years ( they last scored in 2000 in Sydney) during the olympic trials. It was against New Zealand and they actually won against them. Cuz of that, the US actually reached the quarter-finals. Lost to Morocco without scoring at all tho so who knows how long it'll be til they score again lol. -the US women's soccer team got the gold for the first time in 12 years. Won against Brazil with a 1-0 score. Those r all I could think of off the top of my head (with the help of google for some specifics). Most of these I found out about thanks to shorts, but I also watched some of the start of NBC's official olympics playlist which included those soccer bits. I think a second video talking about more of these funny/interesting instances would be a great idea. Loved ur vid.

16:45 One of the Olympians who also went to Stanford is Brodie Malone, US gymnast. He and Asher Hong competed with each other in gymnastics for Stanford, which often wins gymnastics championships. In fact, much of the men’s field at the US championships were collegiate athletes, and a ton of them are from Stanford.

it’s Larissa Latynina of Russia from like the 60’s I think. Simone is tied with Vera something also from Russia for 2nd in world for Olympic medals. So, it’s confusing. Simone is worlds most decorated if you count world medals also. 🤸‍♂️🤸🤸🏻‍♀️

Thomas Pidcock, after a puncture and a delayed tire swap in mens xco came back in the last couple of meters with a dangerous move to claim himself a gold by cutting off and almost crashing the silver medalist. Now the name Pidcock is an insult used WIDELY in the xco community when regarding to someone who cut/tried to cut someone else off. Also Remco Evenepoel pulled two victories - both in ITT and the road race!

my personal opinion is just that, if you are already the top in Education, then that gives you most of the free time training and effort to be the Ultimate in Sports. You mostly cannot be struggling in your studies and future career, and still go training all day every day for Sports professionally, that would be crazy for a person to make that sort of High stakes Risk of their lifetime.

As much as I´d love to root for Russian athletes again I don´t think it´s happening soon. With Russia being blacklisted from virtually any international tournament (not just sports) atm. Successful Russian athletes were ALWAYS accused of doping so I think officials will look for any excuse to keep Russia out of the Olympics for as long as possible (the Ukraine conflict providing the perfect opportunity)
