I mentioned an idea about iT to a catholic and she instantaneously disagreed with me. She couldn't have given iT any thought. I would call that brainwashed. I, myself, was also raised as catholic, daily, in a catholic school, but iT didn't take. Certainly not much longer than the last day I was in that school, iF even that long. The name Jul comes from the name Jólnir, which also is the additional name of Odin from the Norse mythology. The birth of Jesus is something that has been added later.

We're smart enough to know that if someone wants to learn more about Christianity there are many churches, Bibles and Christians to show them what is offered, but we don't push it on anyone!! I know some do. Why can't you just say no or no thanks!? It's not like they're pushing you to do something that is bad. I think people really should be more excepting of others beliefs as long as it's not a belief that would cause any harm to anyone! And while it's a myth that people in the Middle Ages believed the earth to be flat, there were certainly religious people, including some early Christian cartographers, who actively sought to dispel what they considered to be the "round earth myth." Their view was purely unscientific, rooted in their interpretations of scripture rather than any rational analysis of observable natural phenomena. Not only do we find this laughable today, most rational people found it laughable even then. Much like modern religious rejection of evolution science, as a means of further politicizing religion and spreading their religious tenets even to nonbelievers through an endless, ignorant filibuster and a tireless campaign of misinformation.

Darwin was a Christian and said I didn't know this theory would take off like it did. He had so much regret he admitted to his findings of a human and monkey remains not being found together but miles apart. Tell me why he had a tent for people to worship on his own property? He had it made and was part of it. When he was nearing death he watched from his window. Them the scientific community can't 100% all agree on how it all started?? How come plants, animal, and fungi have nucluses in their cells. Why is it that the DNA in all living things is from the same 4 pairs? Why do mitochondria and chloroplast have their own DNA and are present in eukaryotic cells but not prokaryotic cells. All the knowledge that we have collected, migration patterns, the fossil record, etc supports the theory of evolution. Hundreds if not thousands of studies support it. You can't support that the reason why something happened or didnt happened is the result of a higher being. That's the difference in the faith put into science. You can test the principle that you are putting faith into and see for yourself if its true.

I actually didn't like that move from Silverman. The whole reason Hannity brought him on the show was because Silverman was claiming that you can celebrate Christmas without believing in miracles. The whole reason he was there was because he was promoting Christmas. It's weird that he seemed so reluctant to acknowledge Christmas considering that fact.

Key Pey when i was 10 i got into cosmology, and it's only a natural progression that when you do dedicate yourself to a position that asks so many questions that you realize the fallacy of religions. i think you're right if you're going to reject a claim, at least have a background and factual argument to back it up. some people may be like me and fell into truth, some may be the other way around and decided to find out for themselves, but at the very least, do the research to back up your claims, regardless of what side of the argument you are on.

To be fair - no, a journalist shouldn't be neutral. A journalist should have a reality-bias, which little boy Hannity obviously doesn't have. The big problem with being neutral as a journalist and throwing things as "ooooh, it could be this, oooor it could be this" is you get shows like CNN bringing on a creationist and Bill Nye to discuss evolution and acting like there is actually a debate to be had there. A neutrality bias is very lazy, from a journalist perspective, and does a serious disservice to the fundamental need of an independent media that acts as a watchdog to corruption and the powers that be in government, the church, and elsewhere, by maintaining the reality of any situation and giving it directly to the people.
