I miss my old demagntitizing cassette from Radio Shack. No tape strip in it. Just a head in the middle of it . you would just put the cassette in, press play and a little light would come on when the job was done.

Maybe that old cleaner is better than the new ones? No tape strip to fool with sounds good, anyway.

I got this before I found a real demagnetizer it might work somewhat okay on the heads, but you also need to demagnetize the other parts, not only the heads So if you can fine a real device I would go with it and avoid this The cleaning is not the best either atleast in my experience

Does this help with walkman magnetic interference? I go out with my Sony almost daily but whenever I'm in a busy district I find my walkman making an abysmal hiss and high pitch whine noise, so would demagnetising it benefit?
@liam30442 жыл бұрын
I am probably late but yes, a magnetized head picks up noise worse and being in a really magnetic are will magnetize your head. So get one of these to use like, once a month and the cleaning fluid is isopropyl alcohol if you run out.

It's a good alternative to other demagnetizer cassettes which are much more expensive. Yes, it's a very easy handling and i also want to be on the safe side. For wet cleaning i would prefer the cleaning by myself with Isopropanol alcohol. I will order this cleaning tape mainly for demagnetizing my Pioneer tape deck. Thanks for your presentation!!!

Would demagnitizing help with slow motioned sound ?. Or does that mean my tape deck needs a new belt replacement?
@BrettDarien3 жыл бұрын
Slow playback would be caused by bad belts or some other mechanical problem.

I clean the pinch roller and tape heads with a cotton bud, Will the tape Demagnetizer work, without the drops of cleaning liquid in the cassette?

Yes the magnet will spin and demagnetize the heads regardless if you add the liquid.

Is your recording levels set to zero? Because if you put a wand demagnetizer into the deck it will bury the level indicators and posibly cause damage. The more I look at this thing I think I will just throw the one just purchased into the trash.

If I flip it over and press play to reverse it, does it still work? Mine won't auto reverse
@BrettDarien4 жыл бұрын
It won't hurt, but if your deck only plays in one direction then you probably don't need to play the other side.

I bought exactly the same cassette as you showed. Made it exactly the same way. My indignation knew no bounds. This muck left behind so much white fluff that I had to disassemble the tape drive system and wash and clean everything. After all, this fluff will get on the tape and will be there forever. Advice, don't buy this crap. Cotton swabs and alcohol. Nothing needs to be invented. Of course, you have no complaints. Maybe it's just me that got it. Check yours.

Any demagnetizer that has that spinning starlight mint in the center will damage the data on any tape it gets too close to, plus it's only meant for non-auto reverse tape decks, and if you accidentally play the tape in the wrong direction, you make it worse. Conclusion: CHEAP SHIT!
@arthurmckay42022 жыл бұрын
DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT, it leaves fibers of fabric all over the tape mechanism, super tedious and would be better to clean your deck by hand.

So, this is a 10 min video of speculation on, well, everything. That is, no way to test whether the heads were magnetized to begin with nor whether this cheap solution would work if the heads were nor even if the cleaning part worked properly. lol.
@BrettDarien2 ай бұрын
Well yeah, I'm not that sophisticated lol. I will say though that this was my first deck and I was still learning alot about cassette decks in general at the time. If I were to make the video now I would probably at least include audio samples of what it sounded like before cleaning and after cleaning. The deck was really dirty when I bought it and probably wasn't maintained at all so I'm sure the cleaning cassette helped a little. It certainly didn't hurt it.
