One of the most love Irish native songs.. R.I.P. Seamus ☘️

Next week it will be one year since the world lost Seamus Begley. Seamus’s voice and box playing are unparalleled, in my opinion. What a wit too. We truly miss Seamus.

This is absolutely beautiful, very done done both of you. God I wish I could sing in Irish but as an Englishman I know alas it will always be beyond me. Can't wait to be back in Clare and Dingle again later this year after 12 months of lockdown and really missing all the live sessions and meeting people from all over the world who really appreciate Ireland's beauty and her traditions. Just wonderful guys, thank you!

First verse: If I follow you diligently west to Carbary, I'll loose my senses if you don't go home with me. Óró, I'll be shedding tears. Don't come after me without plenty money, The real stamp of the king of England in your keeping. Óró, for the cost of the journey. There won't be welts on our hands from digging the fields, nor from heaping the turf nor the Autumn sun shining on us. We'll have the long dance if that's what you want, Gold and silver, drink and whiskey, Óró, as long as we live.

@@jamesstuartbrice420 It's even better in Irish - Gaelic is a group of languages that are related but linguistically distinct, in much the same way as Dutch and German are Germanic languages - similar but not one and the same.

It gets tough in Sliabh Luachra when Cork plays Kerry in football. I have heard that the supporters of the losers will miss Mass for a couple of weeks afterwards and that parish priests know and accept that fact of life in that famous frontier town. Now that's the place for Sean O Se, Jimmy Crowley and Seamus Begley to meet up to sing each others songs. By the way, my late mother grew up six miles east of Macroom. She always said that 'An Poc ar Buile' was composed by a man from that place...

Come on here now, John boy, I think Seamus Begley is one of the top Irish singers anywhere right now. If he has any problem at all it is being from Kerry but he is so damn good I cannot even hold that against him - he is a King from the Kingdom. However, he may as well leave the 'Banks' to Seán Ó Sé and to Jimmy Crowley. As for the dirty rotten bankers they should all be locked up on Spike Island - Ireland's answer to Alcatraz - without their iPhones. The Blaskets would be far too good for them!
