Went there in the 60s as a child on many family vacations. Great memories.

Unfortunately, I wasn't in the area for more than a few hours so the only footage I recorded was at the park, and a few seconds on the main road in front, looking at the park. I didn't capture anything else as we didn't stop anywhere in the area once we left Panama Beach City. It was the only time I have been to the area.

Dude great camera for 2001. I used to go here as a kid. I was 9 my sister was 8 the last time we went. We would drive from Texas to Panama for vacation every couple years after a long day at the beach, riding dantes inferno and abonimable snowman was literally the best. First thrill rides I've ridden in my life!

I love hearing stories like this. Thank you for sharing. I was only able to visit the park the one evening I recorded this video. I would have loved to return someday but that never happened while the park was still there.

Thanks. It was a Sony Mini-DV camcorder. While it only recorded in 30fps, I rendered the video in 60fps and brought more color into the footage as well.

Unfortunately, I was only able to visit this part once;. the day this video was recorded. I would have loved to spend more time but since we were on a big coaster trip, our time was limited in the area. I am glad you got good memories from the park. That's what it's all about.

Hey Sean, Do you remember the cost of the wristbands that day?
@SeanFlaharty Жыл бұрын
I wish I did. My guess was that it was under $20. We only rode a few things because of the limited time we were there.
@pygmywarrior3 Жыл бұрын
. @SeanFlaharty I remember in about 1979 or 1980, my mom complaining because the wristbands went up to 12 dollars. I took my daughters there in 2004 just before they closed, but I don't remember the cost. Thanks for the video!

Thanks Sean for uncovering this lost gem! I'll Never forget going to this park even though me and my family only went once, it's a memory that will forever be engraved into my psyche. I don't remember too much of the park or what we even did there but the one that will forever stick with me is that god awful castle. And even though I didn't go in, the outside of the ride was enough to keep me deterred from stepping anywhere near it. And ever since then I've had that damn castle stuck in the confined of my mind for all these year. Several questions racked my brain. "What did I miss?" "Was the ride really that scary?" "And would I survive?" (Ps I had it believed that I would end up getting my head chopped off by a hidden buzz saw. I had a very "active" imagination at that age. Plus the one Chucky movie with the Dark Ride scene didn't help either.) But after all these years I Finally get to witness perfection! So Thank you Sean, it was a fun trip through memory lane.

I used to go here every year. We lived an hour away. Good times. I loved the pirate ship, abominable snowman, and their driving track.. ill never forget driving an old car down route 66 and listening to little richard on the radio while pretending i was all grown up driving a real car.......and of course my favorite is and always has been the bumper cars 😂... I was always too scared to ride the rollercoaster though... i made it all the way up the ramp to the front of the line with my two sisters but when we were next in line to get on it i got scared and ran away and went back to my bumper cars 😂

“Are you gonna film yourselves on this ride?” Proceeds to film her the entire length of the ride, haha. Thanks for this. Never got to go. Love the Double down in the Monster’s Mouth Tunnel. Nice Escape from Pompeii reference while onride the dark ride. And I enjoy the offride plank breaking effect just for the amusement of those waiting in line. Looks like a cool park. Sad to see places with woodies like this and Waterville USA close.
@SeanFlaharty2 жыл бұрын
We were supposed to visit Waterville on that trip but had to cancel as it wasn't exactly on the path to where we were going. Yep, I remember that woman asking where that video would be shown, after our ride. Back then, social media didn't exist but there were a TON of cable coaster shows happening. You either watched videos that way or on the news or something. In reality, the woman was just in the shot but I was trying to record Barry and Jeff in the very back row. I just captured some more reactions in the process. We were only there for a couple hours but I am really glad we went.

It was one of the smoothest wooden coasters I have ridden. I didn't have a chance to ride it at Legoland once it was rebuilt there for a short period of time. I heard it had gotten very rough.
