Interesting... I ultrasonically cleaned and rebuilt the carbs on my GSXR11M only to find very similar symptoms on cyl 4 when hot. I'd never considered the air jets until watching this and will now look forward to fighting them off the airbox (again) and going through them... You have also taught me that ultrasonic is not the gold standard of carb cleaning... Thank you!

love the dicking around , the WTF , and especially the fantastic , basic delivery , Ive learnt loads of new tricks , (Carb cleaner through the jets ) which saved the full carb strip , which I dont think most people look forward to , as the bike designers make them so awkward to remove , perfect THANK YOU

Amazing. . . I really thought it was going to be leaking o rings on the float valve. I’ve learnt something here Jim, thank you for taking the time to show us all this diagnosis and repair/correction of the carb issues. I never miss any of your vids, I’m a bike mechanic, was a car mechanic for 35 years but graduated to a motorcycle workshop 5 years ago and now dealing with a lot of carbureted bikes.. it was always fuel injection when I was on cars.

Hi Jim . I’m keeping up to date with your work on the Thunderace and good work it is to. I’m having an issue with my Ace smelling really rich on idle . Bike runs really well apart from a little flat spot at 1500rpm when pulling away. Everything checks out ok , I just need to sort these two little niggles.

What would cause a condition on a carb bike, particularly an R6 where you take it off the sidestand, leaning to vertical and the idle speed momentarily drops then picks back up to normal idle speed? All jets clear, air circuits clear, pilot fuel screws set as factory. No other issues etc.

@@maciek600r I set the floats. They're set to Yamaha spec. It's also had new float needle valves in it too. The bike runs perfect apart from this niggle. I did think it might be fuel level. It doesn't do it all the time either. Maybe I'll increase the float levels by a fraction to reduce the fuel height, see how that behaves.

Zaworki iglicowe OEM czy aftermarketowe? Aftermarketowe mają inną wagę niż OEM, zazwyczaj są cięższe przez co wlewa się więcej paliwa przy tej samej wysokości pływaka.

@@maciek600r well I've had the carbs off, the fuel level is 100% set to Yamaha spec and it still did the revs drop when lifting off the sidestand. However with the fuel level where it was, there was hardly any movement on the floats. The tang had to be bent significantly to get it to the correct level. So that was the float level set to 5.5 mm. These carbs never came from the factory with the float tangs bent like that. Anyway, it still did it with a low fuel level/high float height. Before any adjustment, the float tangs were pretty straight and the float height was 3.5mm. As the carbs were flooding with them set to this (filling the crankcase when stood) and I wasn't happy with the float height being sat at 5.5mm with the revs drop still happening, I've set the float height to 4.1mm and see how it goes from there. Also I don't want it starved of fuel at high rpm so another reason why I didn't want the fuel level set too low. Inside the carburettors look immaculate, all jets clear, everything is fine. They're literally like new. Like I said, bike runs fine, no rev hang etc, just that niggling problem, which I'll now ignore.
