An EASY way to UN-SEIZE Detroit Diesel Supercharged 2 Stroke Injectors - 8v71 Revival Pt 2

In this video, I show how I deal with 6 of the 8 seized or stuck injectors in the 8v71T Supercharged Detroit Diesel 2 Stroke V8 engine. This GM engine had been sitting in a shed for about 19 years and I have brought it home to see if it will start and run once I give it a good check over. We have very limited information about why it was removed from the caterpillar scraper to which it was originally fitted but we’ve rescued it nonetheless and we will see how it turns out in due course. I enjoy your program very much. I've always, after work found it relaxing to have a beer at the pub and watch the bartender work or take lunch at a Cafe and watch the cook or anyone else that's good at what they do. I am enjoying your videos very much! I learned of your channel on the western truck and tractor repair channel. I read your About post and we have a lot in common. At the age of 6, dad built a new house, had a new well drilled and the drill rig 4 cylinder Continental engine failed. The driller put in a new one and left the old one under a tree in the back yard. I got my dad's sparse tool box and began to take it apart without any idea at all about engines but I wanted to learn. Went on to open my own farm equipment repair business at age 14 and retired 23 years ago as a fleet maintenance manager. I spend my spare time now repairing equipment for folks in my tiny little town in Arkansas, USA and watching great video content like yours on YT.

I use a brass punch/drift to prevent damage to the injector.I have the special deep socket for the fuel jumpers. They are all the same length. What you’re doing is best keeping them in their original position.

Also if you need a penetrant and don't have anything specific on hand, Dex 3 trans fluid and Acetone mixed works pretty good

If you need info on injector timing I can give the basic procedure on that too. I don’t know how far you’re trying to take it, but my friend has all the field manuals on these so I could help if you need info or parts.

I cut an old fuel jumper line in half then run on piece of tubing off the cut end into a jar then you can blow the old fuel out of the injector and squirt what ever you want through the injector and it goes directly into the jar. No mess and nothing diluting the oil.

G,day Bruce, great video again , on what's needed when attempting to start old GM DETROIT, or if you start them without freeing up stuck rails they might run off to heavens above, and sometimes if it's got leaky pipes or gaskets on air intake there's no blocking it off to kill it dead , fire extinguisher or heavy sprays of water until it stops

Bruce, you could have easily removed those injectors then freed the throttle rods much faster.

hello Mr. Bruce; wondering how to get a heavy does of acetone and ATF blend into the cylinders of a certain V-8 diesel engine. It is a one of the 8.2 Detroit diesel 4 stroke, commonly referred to as a Fuel Pincher, it is non turbo, inside a 1989 bluebird bus here in Fairbanks, Alaska. It has sat for 7 years in an area where there is a lot of pond water near by. I suspect this has contributed to the rings sticking a bit, maybe a bit much because I have already attempted the basic crank rotation, but not as of yet had time to get to the flywheel starter gear teeth. I drove it there 8 years ago and know it did run very well. Do I have to remove the intake? There are no outside ports or visible injectors, on the out side where the exhaust manifolds are bolted to the heads. Do I need to pull the intake manifold, or do I merely, very cleanly, remove the valve covers, as you do on the Detroit 2 strokes? Your thought are appreciated sir -thank you -russell thesing
