Did a clutch on one of these back in the 90s. It was 6 cylinder diesel they used them as snow plows up here in the Highlands of Scotland.

Keep up the good work Bruce, would be great to see the old girl run and possibly drive. Hard to know if the PTO will still engage or the hydraulic hoses are capable of holding any pressure. Looking forward to episode 2.

ive had a fair few of those old TKs.....looks like late seventies as the early ones had a V on the front and the later ones had power steering, they discontinued them in 84, that engine looks like 300 petrol...if its 12v...you can use 24v briefly to yank it over with some wd40...or even build a fire under the sump to warm it up...first places they rot is the wheel arches that connect to the cab...then the roof edges...4 big bolts and the whole cab comes off once youve disconnected the steering bush and electrics....we used to break them....4 speed box, rear axle, engine....they got exported to africa or maybe ozzy...the petrol engines where bad...head gaskets and block cracking...so under powered and you had to thrash them...the best engines were 330, 400 or 500 diesel but still garbage in comparison to others.

The engine looks like the old 4.9 litre Chevy stove bolt that Bedford used as they were part of GM, i had one in my 1953 Bedford MK1 RL, Super tough engines but they drink fuel ie 10 MPG if you are lucky and only produce about 110 BHP!

I really REALLY do wish you and your channel---(AND your camera man/family!!)---all the very best for the future, whatever it may hold and where ever it may be held! I have just watched your Q&A version from 2 months ago---(this is now 14/07/2024, and I have been binge watching ALL of your videos/posts, with just the one ''Wally Wabco'' left to watch!"!!)---and i am sooo very pleased to have subbed a while back now!! 50,000 subs--REALLY!?! It really SHOULD be quite a lot more in my humble opinion, as i think that your channel deserves it. The way that you have to deal with all and sundry in the outback---(animals/snakes/spiders/ticks/mosquitoes etc etc!!)---the weather systems---the areas you travel too----the lack of oil. and of water--(and taking it with you!!).....ALL combined to make me ''Subscribe'' quite a while ago! Please Bruce, continue to go on to do greater things, please continue to enlighten us, the professional's, the novices, and just the plain old ''looker's'', people like myself, who deal with only small engine machinery, not much bigger than a grass mower, or a ''wipper stripper''(?).( ''Strimmer'' in the UK!) Please continue to do, what you do best!

Yeah, that's correct when it comes to reversing - we used to do it with our old CAT D5B in the New England. I know a few who did the same with D7G's & D9's too.

Hi Bruce, Glad you had your Cataracts done. I have had both my eyes done and I was easily the youngest guy in the room at 50. The surgeon said to me “why did you wait so long” as they were pretty bad. I was amazed like you that things had edges again. One think I will say is gradually your eyes can become cloudy again as cells stick to the artificial lenses. It can take a couple of years to occur. Mine took another 10 years to become a problem. I’m now over 60. It’s an easy fix with about a 10 minute procedure with a laser while you are awake. Just bright lights but completely painless. So be on the lookout for that and there is no need to put up with it. The doctors tend not to tell you about this problem. You end up with what they call “floaties” inside your eye which is a bit like a fly on the wall which your brain tunes out after a while and eventually degrades and disappears. But way less problem than the cloudy/ double triple vision. Loving your videos. Great work and keep your chin up 🤠

In the late 1970s, I worked as a mechanic for a bus company. I wasn’t usually expected to work on Sundays, but one morning early, the phone rang; the driver explained, “I’ve brought a group of people over the border to play the Pokies (no pokies in Qld during the rein of Sir Joh) then when we were ready to come home the bus wouldn’t start.” So grabbing the Bedford Diesel I headed for the Teranora Football Club, ‘Oh I shouldn’t have taken that one’, but how was I to know it was needed elsewhere? There was not much other choice. So I parked beside the bus ( A Bedford 300 petrol) to connect up Jumper Leads; I told the driver, “Try it now.” An enormous “BANG” echoed off the countryside, and a cloud of dust fell out of the roof panels, mud from the 1974 floods. (I was imagining everyone around the area diving under their beds, as during the night, there had been shots fired nearby.) They had left the Club at about 1 AM and tried to start the bus until the battery gave in. They lifted the engine cover to look at the engine, one guy looked at the Ignition Distributor and said, “I migghtuh dranka few beers tonight but dem wires is rrong,” “I’ve worked at Irving Motors for the past 15 years and Dem wires is rrong.” How did they think they got there if the Spark Plug leads were wrong? So they pulled the leads out and put them in the right places, then they pushed the bus up and down the football field, but ‘of course’ no go. Somewhere back in the vehicle's history, someone had put the distributor in 180 degrees out, It was easily fixed; just put the plug leads around 180 degrees. So, after the muffler blew wide open, the driver told me the story. They had completely flooded the motor and no way could it be started, the muffler still had sufficient fuel in it to go off at the first spark on an open exhaust valve. I put the leads back in the wrong places, and she started straight up, so I burbled her all the way back to the depot.

No Sir.....it is YOU that is [email protected] time! To have bought that dumper truck back from the dead, to have gotten it started and running again after 30/40 or even 50 plus years, that is down to YOUR ingenuity, YOUR ideas, YOUR training and YOUR long experience and YOUR knowledge of such mechanical subjects. Congratulations to you Sir, and hats off to you, ''subbed'' many video's ago, and will continue to do so, especially for the ''Wally Wabco'' series!! It’s not the Dart, everyone thinks it’s the dart. 🤠 Great video. Mix it up with back stories and forward stories. I hate those little paper wasps, a single sting put me in hospital recently. Very nearly knocked me off the perch.
