Absolute delight to watch your clear and methodical approach to these big old chunks of over engineered iron. Amazing how they can sit for so long and with a few necessary checks bursts into life. Even more incredible is the number of these machine simply abandoned all over the place particularly it seems in the Australian, North American and New Zealand bush. Wish I could find one somewhere it’d be a great fun challenge to work on.

I haven’t seen the name G-Well for many years. My wife gets annoyed with me for naming old cars and trucks in period British dramas.

Back in the late seventies I was working on a road building project in S.E. Iran, on the camps we had portable fire pumps with VW 1200 air cooled engines.built by a company called Rosenbauer, I think. they had magneto ignition and electric start but they could also be hand canked which was useful as the local scallies would nick the batteries! All The Best from cold, grey Somerset, England

12:08 I feel your pain Bruce. It's the same here in the USA. Most stuff here now says Made in China. I remember the old days when most stuff said Made in the USA. I am hopeful it will be that way again one day, but who knows.

how do all? say bruce, considering how much diesel aboard and how the fiat started once you let the air escape perhaps they ran out of diesel, then brought out a couple of drums of diesel, bled filters but didn't know to bleed inlets. once you warmed up that motor sounded same as a brand new semi engine so the time is prob true on hr meter. taztez. p.s. i enjoy watching v.g.g., [ vice grip garage ], also and it may interest your viewers and self, the bloke travels u.s. to try and drive back to his workshop for cosmetics/upgrade etc.. the family also do charity events you may get a few pointers if interested. keep up the good work. taztez. p.p.s. marty t. is a kiwi bloke restoring diesel plant like yourself. cheers.

If you want to clean out a motor you can use diesel for a engine flush. Just run it with the diesel in for two minutes .
