Loved hearing your impressions and feedback on the tractor while you are talking with Euan and utilizing Row Follow! We think having the ability of driving hands free can make tractor operations worry free. Since Row Follow takes control of the steering while in the rows & keeping the tractor centered, it enables you to focus on controlling the implement or even doing a full on interview! ⚡😅

Amazing! So exciting to see such enthusiastic adoption of this technology. It gives me hope for the future

This is amazing Gav. Reminds me of a farm I went on a tour of here in Tasmania, owned by Simon Hackett, it was amazing he had 200kW solar generation which also provided shade to his sheep plus flow batteries and well being a former owner of a well known ISP in Australia that unfortunately the new owners decided to retire also has underground fibre connecting all the buildings plus a runway for his Pilatus PC12.

I have heard the comment before! "This technology is available now," Yep Eloon said in 2017 when he said they were building the new Roadster, or "FSD is ready now" But to be fair at least Gavin saying this is not BS as this is in fact working "now"!

New Zealand has autonomous tractors for a few years now. Smart machine/Oxin. One operator can run multiple machines.

Can it turn around onto the next row autonomously?

Not new, but new application. In broad acre farming and large scale mining, its not new. Being new, vendors charge double, getting all the benefit. Make sure LFP batteries for longer life.

4:06 Great video as usual, but speaking as someone who is unsuitable for skilled work and dependent on menial and repetitive work, owing to my intellectual disabilities, robits taking all such work won't work for me. There won't be any work I can do anymore. The idea that taking such work from all people so people can only have skilled work, being unequivocally, necessarily great for everyone, is very narrow sighted to neurotypical benefit only.

I agree that this is a problem that not many people are talking about. Though, something the robots cannot take from you is your humanity. There will always be jobs involving being caring and keeping people company that require people. Still, changing jobs is hard. I wish the people in politics stopped being so focused on university university university. We need jobs for all our people and we need to respect the people doing those jobs.

aall that and you didn't even complete the list of advantages: not having diesel emissions in the rows where the food is will also produce a superior product, so less waste at harvest time. all the wins!

Agricultural Tractors could be the ideal use candidate for electrification - all the torque is at 0 RPM; the tractor needs weight for good traction in boggy conditions; tractors travel at low speed. Just my 2 cents.
@hughmarcus1Ай бұрын
Except most of them need to run round the clock at harvest time. Unless you can find a way to easily swop batteries then it’s a no go. Even then you’d need to swop them in the field. At harvest time entire fleets of tractors & combine harvesters are refuelled on the move using bowsers. This is a tiny vineyard tractor. It’s really a toy as tractors go.

High power requirements for long periods of time is exactly the opposite of an ideal use case for battery electric systems. Hybridization might improve their efficiency, but it would likely also increase their cost.

@@stevenmelling6068 CNG engines can be made to produce almost zero emissions. In the US, natural gas is likely to be the fuel source for an electric tractor anyway.

Very interesting, however the business case would be a bit more convincing if the orchard had paid for it, and mentioned how much the solar panel farm costed
@theunknownunknowns256Ай бұрын
The orchard as a whole offsets about $60 000 a year in fossil fuels if I remember correctly. They have a KZbin see for yourself. I understand being skeptical but these guys have proper high end accounting and statistical talent helping them out. The claims are robust.
@NixdbАй бұрын
Many orchards/farms already have solar installations as the economics have just made sense, even without a tractor. When land is cheaper, you don't have to get up on a residential roof and you get bulk pricing from a larger array, solar just makes sense.

Throttle It's bad enough when they refer to the fuel control of a diesel as a "throttle" , but now electric motors have "throttles"
