It really stood out how beautifully this was filmed! It's tricky making a video on a bus, well done mate!

Wow that is kind of you to say. I thought I’d down a terrible job. The dirty windows didn’t help. Struggled with this one so your positive feedback means the world.

Give it a go for sure. There has been some talk of Ember running services from Aberdeen and Inverness too. Watch this space I guess.

Very relaxing blog.. nice choice of music.. it reminded of a. KZbinr who told me he often used classical music as there are no copyright issues.. I like the support that: let’s make a trip and Steve marsh give you in the comments.. the nitty gritty Tavel community seems so supportive

Cheers! It’s a very reassuring getting support from some of the big guns on YT. Helps me think I’m maybe doing something right. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. I really appreciate it.

Nice video Tim and a nice bus too! I’d definitely consider this for the route and the price is good. I do drive an EV and I love it. Totally different mindset to a petrol vehicle But once you get used to it, it’s great!

Cheers mate. I didn’t think I’d done it justice so I’m glad it was ok. The Yutong was a very pleasant bus. I’m waiting on word about our next EV, having driven EVs I wouldn’t go back to fossil fuel.

Nice video, and interesting operator. I guess given the lack of wires on the rail line, this is the only electric / zero carbon route at all?! For the passenger experience, then, I guess it's the same as a "regular" bus but without the engine vibrations? Definitely looking to make my next car an EV, only reason my last one wasn't is the purchase price at the time (I went for the smallest, most efficient petrol!) Thanks again!

I would say it's zero carbon intercity route. Stagecoach in Inverness have started to introduce EV buses on some of their local routes. Ember have ambitions to introduce services to Aberdeen and Inverness too. Definitely a quiter experience overall. We started driving an EV in 2017 and haven't looked back. I think you'll love it. There's a really good online community too who are every ready to help with questions and myth busting. As ever, thanks so much for watching.

We have BYD brand buses operating at Sydney Airport to and fro the car parks . They seem ok , a bit “ whiney “ compared to diesel though . I’m wondering about the overall usefulness of a bus with only a 200 mile range . A bus only makes money when on the road , and these would spend a fair time being charged up and off the road . OK I guess for a limited operation , but quite restrictive for long haul use . What would Mrs TT think of it . Loved the video as usual Tim , cheers mate 👍

Hey David! Thanks for watching. There definitely isn't the diesel "grunt" with these buses. As I understand it the TCe12 can be fully charged in under 2 hours. I guess operating a fleet makes it more manageable. Apparently Ember do have plans to operate coaches with 350+ kW batteries which would give more range. Something different to try for sure! Mrs TT said she prefers her seat reviews. 😂

For electric buses you need to choose the battery size (range) that best suits the routes. Having a larger battery than you need increases the weight for no good reason and reduces energy efficiency overall. The distances between cities in Scotland and the UK generally make the range of these buses very suitable. The distance from Edinburgh to Dundee is only 63 miles (101km). The Glasgow/Dundee route is about 80 miles so you can see they are a good fit. Ember has been able to increase its frequencies over the past 3 years and now has good data on these routes before adding routes to other cities. Clearly there will be some that will be out of range until they get bigger battery capacities but there's plenty of opportunities within that 200 mile range.

Hi Tim, great video, I travel from london to dundee a lot. I usually fly into Edinburgh airport then head into the city centre to get a mega bus up to dundee. I've seen on thier website that ember to busses from Edinburgh airport to dundee. It says the bus departs from a park and ride close to the airport and you'll need to get the tram to get to the park and ride (and the tram fare is included in the ticket) was wondering if you've done this route before and how it work. If not no worries

I'm glad you found the video useful. If you book on the Ember website from Edinburgh Airport-Dundee you can take the tram from the airport headed to St. Andrew's Square. Get off at Ingliston Park & Ride. It's the first stop on the route and the Ember coach stops at the main building in the car park. I hope that makes sense! I would recommend booking in advance at ember.to

Nice one Tim, i am hoping to try Ember out very soon myself. As a bus enthusiast i say any bus built after 1999 sounds terrible anyway so a bus that makes no noise, surely i can't moan at that 😂

For a modern way of travelling they look great! Still not used to seeing thing charging from a post yet, but I am sure in a few years we'll have forgotten any other way of doing that! Great Video as always Tim! Now, how can I convince the Wife she wants to go on a bus when I come to Scotland in April 😂

Cheers mate! I think EV is the way it's going. Stagecoach up here have started introducing EVs to their Inverness local routes. As for the other matter, it's a tricky one. I usually appeal to the "please support my nerdiness" line of approach. 😂

Would have been good to have "heard" the bus when on the dual carriageway and motorway from Dundee to Perth and then Edinburgh, so it would be the actual experience a passenger would have, rather than having some music? Perhaps take the music off?
